Professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin has opened up on his close connection to Strictly Come Dancing co-star Vito Coppola as he's forced to step in for him.
Vito had been paired with actress Sarah Hadland on the latest series of the BBC dance competition, while Nikita had been matched with hockey player Sam Quek. The cast of the 2024 series have reunited to head out on the Strictly UK tour, yet Vito has been forced to miss a few dates. He revealed he had suffered an injury, meaning he can't dance with Sarah just yet.
Nikita has stepped in to act as Sarah's partner until Vito can hopefully make a return. When asked if they are keeping in touch with Vito, Nikita told the Mirror : "I think it is impossible not to keep in touch with Vito. We are probably sleeping next to each other on Facetime."
The Celebrity Big Brother star also revealed how different it is for Sarah to dance with him and not Vito. He told us: "It is getting used to it. Obviously at the beginning, it is getting used to a new person. From my side, I need to understand Vito and Sarah have a relationship and a way of dancing. I need to ask Vito questions on how they do it, so I can help her.

Instagram)"It's wonderful. It's actually really a blessing to dance with her. I wish Vito all the best and hope he comes back soon." Vito made the announcement he would be missing some dates of the tour while on This Morning. He said: âAt the moment, I will be replaced by Nikita, and he will dance with (Sarah), he will lift you around, because Iâve got a little injury. Itâs like a dancer thing, we are kind of used to having this kind of pain, a little bit, in the body.â
He added that it is a âlower back painâ, and he can walk and move around, but sharp movements can be tricky so he needs to take a âlittle restâ. Vito shared: âHopefully, I am able to dance on tour in the arena from Sheffield (on January 21). But Iâm going to do all the physio, all the treatment this week.â
In an update with his followers just before the tour kicked off, Vito shared: "I am definitely feeling much better. I am doing all my physio and my therapy. Hopefully next week I am going to be back. I just want to wish the best of luck for the tour. See you soon." He has also been forced to pull out of a Dance With Us class in Birmingham with Shirley Ballas as Anton Du Beke replaced him. Last year, Vito lifted the Glitterball trophy with former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach, and they also went on the live tour.
