Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has become famous not only for his skills on the football field but also for being the boyfriend of Taylor Swift, stated that it is a “great honor” to have President Donald Trump attend Super Bowl LIX.
Kelce delivered his comments during media day on Wednesday when he was asked to react to the news that Trump would attend the Super Bowl, which will be held in New Orleans. The move will make Trump the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl.
“That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,” Kelce, 35, said to reporters at the press event. “I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.”
Kelce’s comments are coming just months after his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was on the receiving end of harsh words from the President after she announced she would be backing then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
During an interview the following day after Swift announced her support, Trump said he “was not a fan of Taylor Swift.”
He then added, “It was just a question of time… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother, announced that Swift will also be at the game to show support for her boyfriend and his teammates as they attempt to make history by winning three Super Bowls in a row.
“Everybody’s coming in,” he went on to say, adding, “I mean, I don’t want to speak for everybody, but I think obviously, our whole family. I believe, obviously Trav and Taylor, and his family and his friends. I mean, Trav always travels like, full.”
Back in June 2024, during an episode of the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights,” Travis Kelce said that it is “always an honor” to go to the White House, regardless of who is sitting in the Oval Office.
“Anytime I get a chance to be recognized by the president of the United States and get to go with my teammates and a group of men and women that I had success with to the point we get acknowledged … I’m doing it every time no matter who’s up there at the helm,” Travis told his brother. “No matter what’s going on in this world, it’s just such a cool opportunity.”
Former President Joe Biden invited Travis and his team to the White House in May 2024 after they beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, which was held in Las Vegas. He and the rest of the Chiefs posed for photos with Biden.
Things wrapped up when Biden, 82, handed the mic over to Travis during the press conference to give a little speech.
“My fellow Americans …,” the Super Bowl champ wisecracked. “I’m going to be honest, President Biden, they told me I’d get tased if I came up here, so I’m going back to my spot.”
