Are you a whizz on all things Irish? Think you know your Irish history, geography, and culture inside out? Challenge yourself with the ultimate Irish trivia quiz, launched just in time for St Patrick's Day.
The quiz is part of Lottoland's St Patrick's Day festivities and their Irish Lotto draw. It comes after a survey found what Brits value most about Ireland.
According to the findings, 52 per cent of those surveyed have been to Ireland, while 39 per cent of those who haven't are keen to visit. Moreover, a third would even consider moving there.
A Lottoland spokesperson said: "There is much about Ireland that can and should be celebrated. Irish culture has a wonderful way of drawing people in, and it's no surprise that so many in the UK feel a strong affinity for it.
"The music, the folklore, the poetry-it all carries a sense of passion and spirit that resonates deeply. From Yeats and Wilde to The Pogues and U2, Ireland's cultural influence has left an indelible mark, inspiring generations."
In the poll of 2,000 adults, participants shared their favourite Irish celebrities, customs, and products. Among the favourites were Irish dancing, Terry Wogan, and St Patrick's Day itself.
One of ten people in the UK make a point to honour St Patrick's Day annually, while a slightly larger number celebrate it occasionally. Nearly half of these opt for the familiarity of their local pub, and 45 per cent choose to indulge in a hearty pint of Guinness.
It appears that around one in four Brits believe that their choices in entertainment, cuisine, and activities are somewhat influenced by Ireland, with a robust 57 per cent declaring an affection for Irish culture as a whole.
A spokesperson said: "Ireland's charm lies not just in its stunning scenery or cultural heritage, but in its people. The wit, the warmth, and the sense of belonging that the Irish extend to visitors make it impossible not to fall in love with."
They went on to add, "Visitors have embraced everything from Irish festivals to Irish names, and the connection between Ireland and most other nations is one of admiration, respect, and a shared love for storytelling, music, and good company."
