What is a Sequoia? A Sequoia is a full size SUV built in the San Antonio, Texas assembly plant and sold in North America by Toyota. The 1794 Edition is a luxury trim model of the 2025 Sequoia. It’s inspired by the state of Texas, where the Sequoia is assembled, and pays homage to the heritage of the area. The JLC cattle ranch was established in 1794, stretching over 2,000 acres on a flat barren plain, some 15 miles south of downtown San Antonio. Toyota’s sixth North American assembly plant opened on that same hallowed ground in 2006, where they build trucks and SUV’s there today.
The 2025 Sequoia is available in 6 trim levels: the SR5, Limited, Platinum, the new for 2025 model year 1794 Edition, the TRD Pro and the top of the line Capstone Edition. The SR5 and Limited can be had in either rear wheel drive (RWD), or four wheel drive (4WD), while the Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and the Capstone are 4WD only.
This week, Toyota sent me a 2025 Sequoia to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this 1794 Edition is $80,135. The option list starts with the 10″ color head up display for $600, the TRD Off Road package for $2,135, the TRD front skid plate for $385, a set of wheel locks for $105 and the connected services package on a 4G network for $325. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,945 destination charge, is: $85,630.
After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your driveway total purchase price came to: $96,334. At just $666 under $97 Grand, this full size SUV comes with every option Toyota offers on this 1794 Edition. At near $100,000, it is close to the top of the luxury SUV class in total dollars, but far from the max, as Sequoia’s can cost over $125,000+ in the top tier Capstone trim model.
So, what do you get for your $97 Large in a 2025 Sequoia 1794 Edition SUV with the TRD Off Road package? To start with, all Sequoia’s are powered by Toyota’s iForce MAX hybrid power train, with a twin turbocharged 3.4 liter V6 gas engine paired with an electric motor, producing an impressive 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. This hybrid drive train is bolted to a 10 speed automatic transmission with sequential shifting modes and tow / haul select. Running into an on-demand and part-time 4WD transfer case with an automatic limited slip differential, into a multi-link rear suspension system, for incredible on-road and off-road stability, safety and control 24/7.
At only $62,425, the 2025 Toyota Sequoia SR5 base trim offers a strong set of standard features, including Toyota Safety Sense, a spacious interior, and a starting price that makes it an excellent value. The 1794 Edition adds in auto leveling LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps with turn signals and a power tilt and slide panoramic sun roof.
The TRD Off Road package has everything you need to go off-road with confidence. It starts with a set of 20″ TRD Off Road alloy wheels with all terrain tires, TRD OFF ROAD badging, a TRD leather wrapped shift knob, Bilstein off road suspension and shocks, skid plates, a red TRD engine start push button, aluminum sport pedals, an electronically controlled locking rear differential, crawl control, downhill assist and a TRD logoed leather wrapper and heated steering wheel.
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia runs and drives with a powerful and responsive feel, thanks to its hybrid power train, offering strong acceleration, a comfortable ride, and good handling for its size; making it a nice SUV for both everyday driving and towing heavy loads. It provides great off-road capability, particularly with the TRD Off Road package, and the highlights are its smooth power delivery and refined driving experience.
Visibility is good and the cabin is quiet. The ride is nice with a luxury feel to it and the handling and steering are great for a full size SUV. The 2 tone coco brown leather and suede interior, with the wood gained trim and tan stitching, look fantastic. Plus, Vince and Rick from Belmont give it Two Thumbs Up! And their approval should seal the deal.
