New Channel 5 drama The Au Pair has dropped all of its episodes on its streaming service 5 this week.
The new drama sees Zoe Dalton (Sally Bretton) is seemingly content with her successful husband Chris (Kenny Doughty), sharing their life with two stepchildren in a picturesque rural English home.
However, the arrival of French au pair Sandrine (Ludmilla Makowski) stirs trouble and teases her wanting revenge. The series debuted on My5 on Monday (March 10) with Zoe learning Sandrine is her daughter and her family seem to be coy on the circumstances of her birth.Â
Chris took matters about Sandrine into his own hands ahead of the final episode. But what happened in the series finale?Â
Who was Sandrine?

Sandrine is revealed to be Zoe's baby, who she gave birth to when she was a teenager. Zoe was told her baby had died, but in fact her father George (David Suchet) worked with then-junior doctor Chris and they arranged for Sandrine to be illegally adopted by a couple in France.
Zoe's mum, a midwife, also helped in the birth.Â
George believed that he was doing the right thing for Zoe and wanted to give his granddaughter a better life. Sandrine, also known as Stephanie Lacroix, instead went to a couple who mistreated her and she was beaten, starved and humiliated.
Sandrine began shoplifting, committing common assault, fraud, identity theft, and even arson. She later flew to the UK to find out the truth about her birth mother and also get revenge after being tipped off by a mysterious figure.Â

What happened to Chris?
Chris turned out to be the real villain The Au Pair (Image: Channel 5)
Zoe's dad George was prepared to take full responsibility for his part in Stephanie/Sandrine's illegal adoption. George also made peace with both his daughter and his granddaughter.
But it was Chris who was the real villain. He got involved in the illegal black market adoptions and would find young, pregnant women who could be exploited and convinced them to give up their baby.
He would then sell the baby to the highest bidder in France, while also pocketing some money for himself. Chris worked with Fred Gastou (Louis Bernard) who threatened Marie (Virginie Ledoyen) to stay quiet.
After Marie tells George about Chris and Fred, Fred murders Marie. Chris, who had kidnapped Sandrine, was ready to kill her but she escaped.Â
Chris races home as Fred threatens him and shares Marie and George met. Chris offers Raye's (Ebimie Anthony) baby as compensation, who is in labour at the family home.Â
Zoe, George, Amber and Lydia all help Raye give birth. Chris confronts George as George tells him that Zoe needs to know everything.
Chris instead stabs him with a needle and rendering him unconscious. Zoe overhears Chris on the phone to Chris about the baby transfer and confronts him about Sandrine.Â
Zoe and Chris argue about Sandrine and the unravelling secrets, with Sandrine arriving just in time. Chris pulls Sandrine into the confrontation and holds the needle to her neck but the police arrive and arrest Chris just in time.
Is George alive?

George was knocked unconscious with a needle by Chris at the guest house, with Sandrine raising the alarm with the police.
In a flash-forward several months later, George returns to the family home as Zoe celebrates her birthday.Â
George apologises to Zoe as he tells her the police contacted him to say that Marie had kept detailed files on every single baby. He adds he feels guilty for his role in the scheme and is willing to face punishment for his actions.
George is invited to stay at the family home and it's implied their relationship is mending.Â
The Au Pair is streaming in full on 5.
