The Blood of Dawnwalker game reveal channels Witcher 3 energy

After teasing the game's announcement in December, Polish developer Rebel Wolves has officially revealed The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new open-world dark fantasy action RPG.
Set in 14th-century plague-ridden Europe featuring vampires, The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first game in a new saga from Rebel Wolves, alluding to a complete set of games like The Witcher.
Players will control Coen, a young man who has been turned into a "Dawnwalker," a being somewhere between a regular human and a vampire. As a Dawnwalker, Coen's abilities shift between day and night. When the sun is out, Coen will use regular swords and combat techniques to fight enemies. At night, his vampiric abilities will let him use supernatural powers.

Bandai NamcoThe day-and-night cycle plays an important part in the plot too. Coen has 30 days to save his family from feudal lords and other dangers. Players can strategically advance time through certain actions. Players will also need to keep Coen's thirst for blood in check, as failure to do so may result in him losing control and devouring his friends.
The reveal trailer is set two years before the game's events and shows the origins of Coen's powers as he and his sister Lunka are saved from a corrupt lord by Brencis, the leader of a vampire clique.
The game's atmosphere is very similar to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine DLC, which also featured vampires in a medieval fantasy land, which seems very intentional. Like Geralt's adventure, Dawnwalker's will feature a branching story, shaped by players through various choices.
Rebel Wolves was co-founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, one of the directors of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Polish studio has been working on Dawnwalker for over two years.
"Inspired by classic RPGs, we want players to feel the sense of urgency in an open world game," said Tomaszkiewicz. "There are multiple approaches to saving Coen's family with no clear division between main and side quests, you decide on how you spend the time. Time is a resource and with each quest progressing its passage, it is impossible to complete all stories and arcs before the dreadful deadline, making each playthrough unique. We call it a narrative sandbox."
Rebel Wolves will reveal more gameplay footage in summer 2025.
The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
