The Buzziest Films for Sale at EFM 2025: A Samuel L. Jackson Hitman Thriller, Barry Keoghan-Riley Keough Collab, Isabelle Huppert Vampire Mystery and More
Star-driven packages with Samuel L. Jackson, Barry Keoghan, Riley Keough, Isabelle Huppert and more headline an action-packed EFM hot list.
As the European Film Market kicks off Feb. 13 in Berlin with a new market head, Tanja Meissner, at the helm, this yearâs buzziest titles suggest the industry will be looking toward tried-and-true genre fare and splashy, star-driven packages to thaw the winter chill.
Bankable stars are expected to heat things up in Berlin, with Ari Aster and A24âs âEddingtonâ (Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler), Guy Ritchieâs âWife & Dogâ (Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike), Ernest Dickersonâs untitled hitman thriller (Samuel L. Jackson, Daveed Diggs) and Kantemir Balagovâs âButterfly Jamâ (Barry Keoghan, Riley Keough) showcasing how marquee names remain a safe bet as uncertainty continues to reign in the theatrical market.
On the genre side of things, horror is still expected to scare up sales, with buyers looking to sink their fangs into Isabelle Huppertâs 16th-century vampire mystery âThe Blood Countessâ and Jacob Chaseâs killer canine genre-bender âBad Boy,â starring Ke Huy Quan and Lili Reinhart. Meanwhile, comedy could be making a comeback, thanks to hot packages including Neonâs âOld Palsâ (Henry Winkler, Brian Cox), the unhinged road-trip comedy âThe Shitheadsâ (Dave Franco, OâShea Jackson, Jr., Peter Dinklage) and the psychedelic stoner comedy âToad,â from âDetroit Rock Cityâ director Adam Rifkin, starring Tiffany Haddish, James Franco, James Paxton and Oliver Wyman.
