The Honesty Box fans left 'baffled' by confusing rule as new dating show airs
The Honesty Box has launched on E4 with Vicky Pattison and Lucinda Light welcoming a bunch of singletons to a lavish villa to find love
Minutes into the debut episode of the new dating show The Honesty Box, TV viewers found themselves scratching their heads, perplexed by the programme's rules.
The E4 series premiered on Monday (28th April), with hosts Vicky Pattison and Lucinda Light introducing a group of singles to the luxurious villa, aptly named Truetopia, where they hoped to discover genuine love.
However, it quickly became apparent that viewers at home were baffled by the show's objectives. Some had assumed certain aspects would remain private, while others thought participating couples were testing their relationships.
One viewer expressed confusion on X: "Wait, everyone can see what is said in the box? #TheHonestyBox," Another asked for clarification: "Wait do they stay in the same couple the whole show or do they recouple #TheHonestyBox."

A third puzzled viewer commented: "Thought they were already couples and finding out if they could trust each other #TheHonestyBox," while someone else simply inquired: "What is going on? #thehonestybox."
The show's premise involves contestants being matched into couples, competing for a ÂŁ100,000 prize fund that decreases each time someone is caught lying.
Throughout the series, contestants can reassess their compatibility and potentially switch partners, reports the Mirror.
They will be randomly summoned to The Honesty Box, where they'll face a lie detector boasting an 88 per cent accuracy rate. The first episode of The Honesty Box had the contestants grilled on their previous romances and intimate details.
Should deceit bubble to the surface, the collective must pinpoint and dispatch the dissembler to the Truth Terrace to spill their secrets.
The Honesty Box is E4's latest dating show
Fans tuned in to the inaugural broadcast were quick to draw parallels between The Honesty Box and other hit romantic series such as Love Island on ITV2 and Netflix's Too Hot To Handle.
Flocking to social media platforms, an E4 enthusiast remarked: "This just looks like another version of Too Hot to Handle #thehonestybox," while a different user shared their perception: "It's like a cross between Love Island and Netflix's Too Hot To Handle #TheHonestyBox."
Another quipped about the contestants' ages: "Are these all just people that were too old for Love Island? #TheHonestyBox," and the comparisons didn't stop there â another viewer suggested: "This is a cross between Big Brother and Love Island... Trutopia #thehonestybox."
The Honesty Box airs on E4 on Mondays at 9pm
