The new dating show The Honesty Box left audiences scratching their heads within moments of its premiere, as confusion reigned over the programme's format.
E4's latest offering kicked off on Monday (28th April), with hosts Vicky Pattison and Lucinda Light ushering a group of hopeful singles into an opulent villa dubbed Truetopia, all in pursuit of finding their perfect match.

Yet, it wasn't long before viewers expressed bewilderment regarding the objectives of The Honesty Box. Some had anticipated aspects of the show to remain confidential, while others believed that existing couples were participating to put their relationships to the test.

In The Honesty Box, pairs of contestants vie for a ÂŁ100,000 jackpot, which diminishes with every lie detected. As the series progresses, participants may reconsider their pairings, reports the Mirror.
They are summoned at random to face The Honesty Box, where a lie detector awaits, boasting an 88 per cent accuracy rate.

In the premiere episode, contestants will face probing questions about their past romances and sexual experiences.
When deceit is detected among them, there's a collective effort to root out the fibber, who is then sent off to the Truth Terrace for a full disclosure.

Following the first show, fans quickly drew parallels between The Honesty Box and other beloved reality dating series like Love Island on ITV2 and Netflix's Too Hot To Handle.
