The Masked Singer has revealed its latest star behind the mask after Bear was shown the exit and sent home on Saturday night.
The semi final began with five characters battling it out for just three places in the final on Saturday 15 February. Bush, Dressed Crab, Wolf, Pufferfish and Bear all sang for the audience and judges, but in the end it was Bear who had the fewest amount of votes and had to remove their mask. Judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Maya Jama were surprised to discover that it was Example who had entertained them over the past few weeks, and had wowed the crowd with their rendition of Charles Aznavour's classic She in the semi final.
Last week, fans were shocked when there was a double elimination and Kingfisher and Snail’s identities were revealed. Kingfisher turned out to be artist Grayson Perry , while Snail was unmasked as singer Andrea Corr. Grayson told host Joel Dommett he was “gutted” to leave the competition.
"I was gutted when I got knocked out. I had two really lovely songs lined up for next week. I was going to sing Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins and there wouldn’t have been a dry eye in the place! I’d already been practising. I could hardly get through without blubbing. And then I was going to do Stick Season by Noah Kahan. That’s a great song. Lots of words though. Very hard to learn but I had it nailed and I was really looking forward to it.”
Celebrities are often sad to leave the show before they get to sing all the songs they had planned. TV presenter Mel Giedroyc, who went out the week before after she was revealed as Teeth, said: “I just feel it's a win-win. I didn’t think I’d get this far, I think I've got over half way which is great! It's been so fun. I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it. I’m sad because my next song was Pointer Sisters’ Automatic done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun.”
She added: "Listen, if you told me you’re going to have a chance to sing the Neighbours theme tune dressed as an enormous pair of wind up teeth with pink tights and big pink flapping feet, I would say I could stop my career now. For me that is the pinnacle!"
The other celebrities who have been revealed in this series include Prue Leith, who was Pegasus, Kate Garraway who was Spaghetti Bolognese,T’Pau singer Carol Decker who was Tattoo, and Macy Gray who was Toad In The Hole. In the Christmas special before the series began, Mo Farah was revealed to be underneath the Giant Joel Dommett head.
