The Masked Singer got off to an explosive start for the 2025 final but fans noticed one judge missing. As pyrotechnics and a huge musical number kicked off the last episode of the season, people couldn't help but question the whereabouts of Mo Gilligan.
Viewers tuning in were startled to see host Joel Dommett singing the Blondie song One Way Or Another - with judges Maya Jama, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross all showcasing their own vocal skills during the performance. As flames erupted at the back of the stage and a huge dance troupe took over the show, 2024 winner Danny Jones returned to duet with Joel at the thrilling opening performance.
The judges then took their seats on the panel - with Danny joining Jonathan, Davina and Maya as they tried to figure out which celebrities were underneath the remaining three costumes; Pufferfish, Wolf and Dressed Crab.
The 36-year-old comedian has been a judge on the ITV family friendly show since 2021 and viewers were distressed not to see him on the show. And they argued there was insult being added to injury as neither his co-judges or Joel gave any explanation as to where he was or why he was missing.

One fan wrote on X: "Where is Mo on masked singer heâs not even been mentioned????" Another typed: "Where did Mo go from the Masked Singer ??" While a further fan typed: "Where's Mo Gilligan? He's been absent in the past couple of episodes.#MaskedSingerUK #MaskedSinger."
His absence had, however, previously been explained by the Mirror as he had missed the final episodes of the 2025 season due to work commitments. Mo had embarked on a tour - which saw him taking in dates in the USA while his hit show was filming. A source told the Mirror earlier this month: "Mo Gilligan reportedly missed out on filming the final two episodes of the current series, as he had to complete tour dates in the US.."
The sixth season of The Masked Singer saw a host of stars taking part by performing underneath extravagant costumes. Olympic legend Mo Farah was revealed to be under the Giant Joel costume and was the first to be exposed in the season - and he was soon followed by TV host Kate Garraway, who had been disguised as Spag Bol.
Former Bake Off stars Prue Leith and Mel Giedroyc were unmasked beneath Pegasus and Teeth costumes resepctively - while The Corrs' Andrea Corr, rapper Example, singer Carol Decker, artist Grayson Perry and EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy have all been unmasked on the show.
There was drama during week three of the show as chart icon Macy Gray was revealed to be underneath the Toad in the Hole costume after belting out a rendition of It Must Have Been Love by Roxette. But she did not take the elimination well, and initially stormed off the set after losing the singing contest, before retuning to reveal her identity.
The 2025 season saw a change in the line-up of the judging panel as Rita Ora opted to drop out of the UK version of the show in order to take up a seat across the Atlantic on the USA version of the show. Her exit paved the way for Love Island host Maya to take a seat beside Jonathan, Davina and Mo.
The 2024 season of the show was won by Danny Jones of McFly fame - who had something of a bumper year winning reality shows in 2024. He was disguised as Piranha on the series and blew audiences away with his powerful vocals - leaving fans stunned when he was finally unmasked as the winner.
Alongside McFly co-star Tom Fletcher, he then won the 2024 season of The Voice as his contestant, Ava, won the show after being mentored by the two singers. And he was then crowned winner of ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! at the end of the year - beating off competition from WAG Coleeen Rooney and celebrity priest The Reverend Richard Coles.
