A Masked Singer contestant left judges in shock after they stormed off stage before their identity was revealed on Saturday (11 January).
The ITV gameshow returned last week (4 January) with host Joel Dommett, panellists Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan alongside a new judge, Love Island presenter Maya Jama.
The show features celebrities performing while disguised in elaborate costumes, as the panel of judges decipher their real identities based on their voices and a series of clues.
Earlier this week, reports suggested that chaos had ensued following the awkward event, and now it has been revealed that Grammy Award-winning singer Macy Gray was the celebrity in question.
After reaching the final two, Gray was axed by judges, despite most of the panel guessing her identity correctly.
The âI Tryâ musician walked off stage at the announcement as Dommett appeared confused, and judges were left open-mouthed in shock.
Dressed as Toad in the Hole, she was eventually brought back to the stage after a chat with crew, to cheers and kind words from the panel who praised her âbeautifulâ singing voice.
Judges were left shocked at the action (ITV)However, she was visibly upset and stone-faced as she gave one-word answers to questions and nodded after her identity was revealed. Gray appeared to have tears in her eyes, as Jama told her she was a huge fan of her music growing up.
Ross appeared to try to lighten the mood and got a smile out of the singer as he asked her how it felt to dress up in the costume.

Reports about the event came after host Dommett recounted someone âstorming offâ stage during filming for the new series, but he admitted that he wasnât sure if the moment would ever make it to screens.
Gray was visibly unimpressed at the announcement (ITV/The Masked Singer )Speaking in an interview with Principle Magazine, Dommett said: âOne of the characters gets voted off and they are really not happy about it. Like genuinely. They were really upset that they did not win it.â
He added: âThereâs something hilarious about seeing someone in a massive costume storm off. What theyâre gonna show of it, I have no idea. But even if they donât show it, I know, and thatâs amazing.â

They continued: âBut instead this character turned around and shuffled off stage, which was hilarious in their costume obviously â but we were all stunned.
âWe knew something was going on because we saw lots of to-ing and fro-ing with crew before the person eventually came back on stage.â
The Game revealed that he has been volunteering to assist the 'brave' firefighters and first responders as they currently battle the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Lee Chae Min may be starring in a new romance drama alongside YoonA!
On January 13, a media outlet reported that Lee Chae Min is currently in talks to star in the upcoming tvN drama âThe Tyrantâs Chefâ (literal translation).
In response to the report, Lee Chae Min's agency GOLDMEDALIST confirmed, Lee Chae Min received an offer [to star in] 'The Tyrant's Chef' and is reviewing the offer positively.
âThe Tyrantâs Chefâ tells the story of a chef who, at the peak of her career, time travels to the past. There, she meets a king known as the worst tyrant, but also the ultimate gourmet. The drama will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo, who has previously helmed hit dramas such as âMy Love from the Star,â âLovers of the Red Sky,â and âKnight Flower.â
Previously, Girlsâ Generationâs YoonA was offered the role of the tyrantâs chef, while Park Sung Hoon was in talks to play the male lead. However, in late December, Park Sung Hoon was embroiled in a controversy that led to the decision to step down from the drama, despite multiple apologies from the actor and his agency.
After leaving a strong impression in tvN's hit drama Crash Course in Romance, Lee Chae Min landed the lead role in the Netflix original series Hierarchy. This year, he is also set to star as the main character in MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Bunny and the Boys.
