Lorraine: Paul Whitehouse lets slip 'clue' for The Masked Singer
ITV's The Masked Singer saw Kingfisher perform last weekend, with fans quickly taking to social media to name their top suspects as to who is behind-the-mask. After a lot of online speculation, comedian Paul Whitehouse has broken his silence on whether he is the celebrity behind the big bird.
TV presenter Lorraine Kelly invited Paul Whitehouse onto her show on Thursday, and wasted no time in asking whether he knew the identity of the show's most recent singer, Kingfisher. "Is that you?" she said, following a clip of Kingfisher performing.
Paul Whitehouse sat on talk show Lorraine's couch with wife Dr Mine Conkbayir to promote new podcast I'm ADHD, No You're Not! but couldn't help let slip theory on who the latest Masked Singer is
Lorraine insisted Paul look her in the eyes direct attempt to glean whether it could be the Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing star due to the nature of his show. Paul stated: "If I say yes, you won't believe me; if I say no, you won't believe me."
Paul, 66, went onto suggest that it could even be fellow comedian Harry Hill that's the singing star behind Kingfisher. "Whoever's done - Harry Hill - has cleverly thrown the focus to me," he said.
"There's rumours flying around, it could be anyone," he added in an effort to back peddle before Saturday's episode. The 'whodunit' singing competition, hosted by Joel Dommett, with a panel including Love Island's Maya Jama, featured Kingfisher's rendition of The Muppet Movie's Rainbow Connection last Saturday.
Paul showed physical discomfort as he let slip name of who he believes is behind Kingfisher's mask and why he believes the singer is 'cleverly' pointing to him
Along with Paul Whitehouse, the show's panellists also guessed Harry Redknapp, Alan Titchmarsh, Chris Packham and Daniel Radcliffe as the Masked Singer's real identity. These suggestions came from following clues: an East End accent; items including a dog treats, a 'Harry' name tag, a radio; and the riddle: âFishing and planting, digging and mowing, to reap the rewards, you better get sowing.â
The season has already uncovered The Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway as Spag Bol and The Great British Bake Off's Dame Prue Leith as Pegasus in week one, and the 'I Try' singer Macy Gray as Toad in the Hole in week two.
