The Monkey has two incredible cameos, and neither of them are Stephen King
The Monkey is out now, and you might spot a couple of familiar faces appearing in the new horror movie – but not Stephen King.

The Monkey is officially here, bringing about one of the best Stephen King adaptations in years – and a couple of the best cameos. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)
The majority of The Monkey revolves around a strange drumming toy creature and its ability to kill off those around you in creative, deadly ways. (Seriously, ever seen someone get torn apart by bees before?)
It’s not the only Stephen King adaptation on the market – both The Long Walk and The Running Man are getting new movies – but it may just be the bloodiest we’ve seen in years.
Thankfully, there’s a couple of great cameos that may distract you from all the guts and gore (even for just a little bit.) Shockingly, though, neither of them involve King himself.
Adam Scott and Osgood Perkins both appear in The MonkeyTwo unexpected appearances in The Monkey come from Adam Scott and the director himself, Osgood Perkins. Adam Scott didn’t appear throughout the trailers for The Monkey, meaning the Severance star’s role may come as a complete surprise to many.
He plays Captain Petey Shelborn, Hal and Bill’s father, who appears in a flashback during the movie’s first scene. He tries to return the monkey toy to a store, covered in blood. Unfortunately for him, things only get more gruesome when it comes to the poor shop owner.
Perkins also appears in the horror movie, playing Hal and Bill’s Uncle Chip. The boys are sent away to live with their aunt and uncle after the monkey takes someone close to them.
While we don’t see much of Uncle Chip (he’s one of the many brutal deaths), Perkins makes an impact with his questionable haircut and outlandish fashion sense, not to mention his untimely demise.
But shockingly, there’s no sign of Stephen King. Although he hasn’t appeared in most adaptations of his work, he certainly made a habit of popping up in cameo roles across the years.

He appeared in Knightriders, Creepshow, Maximum Overdrive, Pet Sematary, and more, with his most recent being an antique store owner in It: Chapter 2 in 2019.
But still, with the two other adaptations on the way, who’s to say we won’t be seeing more of the author on-screen in the near future?
