The One Show's Alex Jones shares horrific family health battle in 'awful' week
BBC presenter Alex Jones spoke about an "awful" week her family experienced after returning from a successful skiing trip – and it all started when two of her young children were playing on the couch
The One Show’s Alex Jones opened up about an “awful” week she had earlier this month that left her little girl in hospital.
Alex, 47, moved from London to the countryside last year with her husband, Charlie Thomson, and their three children, Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two. And speaking on the Binge! podcast with co-host Harry Judd, she revealed how Annie was left in a plaster and "looking like a pizza” after two recent health battles.
After the McFly star asked how she was, she replied: “We have had a bloody awful week – I won’t lie to you. Can you swear on a podcast? Terrible week. So basically we came back from skiing with no broken bones and then Annie broke her arm.”
Harry gasped at the revelation before the Welsh broadcaster said it happened after Kit and Annie were "reenacting Gladiators” on the sofa.

The mum-of-three added: “They got on an arm each, clashed in the middle, and somehow Kit fell against Annie’s elbow and you know when you know because the cry is different? And we really tried to brush it under the carpet like the good parents we are.
“But the next day she was still beside herself and it was swollen. Yeah broken, clean break at the elbow. So plaster cast past her elbow but ready for the next layer? She’s also got chicken pox – and she’s covered in it.”
Alex went on to describe it as “10/10 parenting hell” and that little Annie “looked like a pizza” after being covered in chicken pox.
Harry described her week as “shocking” before Alex shared that at the time of recording, her poorly daughter had only been to nursery once this month.
In recent days, Alex returned to the podcast to talk about their usual telly recommendations, with her latest being Netflix’s Adolescence starring Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters.
And giving her summary of episode one, she said: “It is the most gripping hour of television I’ve ever seen.”
She added: “It is horrific because what you’re thinking is – this could happen to anybody. It is honestly the best hour of telly I’ve ever seen that first episode.”
