The Traitors fans 'call Ofcom' as favourite banished in brutal final scenes
The Traitors viewers were left fuming after their favourite player Alexander was banished in the final episode of the series, which was won by Faithfuls Jake and Leanne
Fans of The Traitors have taken to social media to express their disappointment after Alexander was ousted by his fellow contestants in the nail-biting final episode of the series. Frankie, Jake, Leanne and Alexander were huddled around the fire pit when they decided to expel one player, and Alexander was the unfortunate one to get the boot.
The 38 year old ex-diplomat had been winning hearts in recent episodes of The Traitors, earning himself a solid fan base. He missed the initial days of the game, nobly volunteering to exit the train to the castle on day one when Claudia Winkleman asked for one person from each carriage to step off.
Ex-diplomat Alexander became a fan favourite
This left him, Fozia and Jack stranded at the station, only to rejoin the game later when bonds had already been formed among the other players. Jack was knocked out in a challenge that saw the three newcomers suspended from trees in cages, while Fozia exited the series after being chosen by Traitors Linda and Minah to participate in the 'Death Match' card game.
Alexander hung on, but many of the Faithfuls suspected he was a Traitor, keeping their distance and leading to poignant scenes of a lonely Alexander wandering the castle halls and sitting solo as everyone else vacated the round table.
Viewers, who were charmed by his loyalty as a Faithful, couldn't get enough of Alexander, particularly after a mission that saw him belting out nursery rhymes in reverse and in full operatic style â a whimsical act that led Claudia to announce to the audience, "Alexander is single," reports the Mirror.
His adorable fall into a flower bush during a badminton match only endeared him further to fans. Then, in the show's nail-biting finale, Alexander won over even more viewers by holding Frankie's hand as they dangled from a helicopter during the final mission and offering her consolation when the revelation of Charlotte being a Traitor became overwhelming. Alas, he stumbled at the crucial last round table, leading to his banishment by fellow contestants.
Frankie was the last person to be banished on the show
The moment Alexander was sent packing, an uproar erupted on X as supporters rushed to voice their dismay. One fan lamented: "Alexander I am sorry these people can't be trusted, I am contacting ofcom," while another sympathised: "I feel bad for Alexander," A third added: "They just didn't deserve Alexander."
Another expressed dismay with a simple "Alexander noooooooo," and yet another shared their heartache with "Alexander did not deserve this," coupled with a barrage of teary emojis.
In an unexpected turn of events, another top contender, Frankie, was ousted before Leanne and Jake emerged as the victorious duo, scooping up more than ÂŁ96,000 between them. The viewers were left fuming over Frankie's elimination, with tweets flying in.
One expressed their dismay: "The only reason a traitor was even found was thanks to Frankie and she doesn't even win. GOODNIGHT." Another person chimed in, accusing others of foul play: "They absolutely cheated Frankie out of that money. MOTHER," while a different viewer speculated: "Leanne and Jake KNEW Frankie was a Faithful, but they got greedy. Nothing will convince me otherwise. Had arranged a two-way split."
