The breakfast Kate Middleton eats every day has been proven to lower cholesterol
Kate Middleton is known to follow a healthy diet, including nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner meals - with one 'superfood' playing a key part.
Kate Middleton is known for maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle - and a key part of her daily routine is her breakfast.
The British royal, who celebrated her 43rd birthday last week, has had a particularly challenging year. In March, she revealed that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy after cancer was detected in tests. However, by November, she shared the good news that she had completed her treatment and was focusing on "staying cancer-free," in a heartfelt family video.
The busy mum of three young children has been gradually returning to her royal duties, including joining the traditional Christmas Day church walk with her family. Kate has often spoken about her interest in fitness, including her previous love of playing tennis, and it seems her diet is in-keeping with her healthy lifestyle.
Kate’s diet is known to centre around fresh fruits and vegetables, and for breakfast, she often enjoys a bowl of slow-burn energy oats. Writing his book 'Catherine, The Princess of Wales', royal author Robert Jobson revealed that healthy eating remains part of Kate and her husband Prince William's daily regime, Surrey Live reports.

He wrote: "Catherine is said to favour slow-burn energy oats for breakfast and both are light eaters at lunch, enjoying salads and fruits. She also has healthy snacks and once told a child at Great Ormond Street Hospital that she ate a lot of olives. Given her model figure, her sweet tooth is a surprise to some and apparently she loves sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Neither of them are big drinkers; William favours a pint of cider over beer and Catherine’s aperitif of choice is a gin and tonic."
Oatmeal, often referred to as a "superfood," is an excellent choice for anyone looking to boost their health. It is filling, easy to prepare and packed with benefits, including its proven ability to lower cholesterol. A 40g serving of rolled oats contains around 3g of fibre, which helps slow the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream and increases the amount excreted through bile acids.
The soluble fibre in oats, known as beta-glucan, is particularly effective at binding to cholesterol-rich bile acids in the gut, further lowering levels. Oats are also rich in essential nutrients like thiamine, phosphorus, magnesium and B vitamins, which play a vital role in energy metabolism.
The HSE recommends maintaining a healthy, balanced diet, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol to keep cholesterol levels in check. They advise: "A low-fat diet including lots of fibre and plenty of fruit and vegetables has also been shown to help lower cholesterol. Fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals and fibre. They help keep your body in good condition. Aim to eat five 80g portions of fruit and vegetables every day." For more information, check the HSE's website here.
