As 2025 gets underway, many of us will be making travel plans for the year ahead. But you donât have to plan trips to exotic locations to feel inspired - in fact thereâs some incredible destinations to visit right on our doorstep.
One place which has been tipped among the best places to visit in the UK this year is a landscape of âmoors, ravines and chocolate-box villagesâ. The best part? It's only a stoneâs throw away from Greater Manchester.
The county of Derbyshire was included in Conde Nast Travellerâs list of the best places to go in the UK in 2025. The publication recommends visitors to head here for âcountry festivals and Austen-worthy romanceâ.
Quoting Jane Austen in Pride and Prejudice, who said âthere is no finer county in England than Derbyshire, the publication writes: âThe dramatic backbone of England boasts heather-covered moors, limestone ravines, stately homes and chocolate-box villages.â

The first national park to be designated in the UK, the Peak District features hundreds of miles of walking routes, breathtaking landscapes and charming villages.
The best part is itâs all within easy reach for Mancunians, whether by car or by train. You can be at Edale station within 45 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly, the starting point for walks up Mam Tor and Kinder Scout, or to the pretty village of Castleton.
But if you can resist the urge to get off the train at Edale, the Hope Valley Railway Line will carry you through to other delightful villages in the Peak District, including Hathersage and Grindleford, before it ends its journey in Sheffield. Each stop along the way provides a getaway to this stunning National Park.
Chatsworth House (Image: Derbyshire Live)Deeper into Derbyshire, Conde Nast Traveller recommends a visit to Derby's Grade II-listed Market Hall in the spring, once the £35million restoration project is complete. It will house a âfood court, artisan stalls and entertainment.â

Stop by the "extraordinary mediaeval rooms of Haddon Hallâ, located just south of Bakewell, which provided the backdrop for the 2023 film Firebrand, starring Alicia Vikander and Jude Law.
Another highlight of the year is Chatsworth Country Fair in August, where you can âwatch a flurry of hot air balloons rise above the river Derwent and graze on sublime Peak District produce.â Country fairs aside, Chatsworth House is worthy of a visit at any time of the year, with a beautiful 105-acre garden just waiting to be explored.

On January 27, Edaily reported that Director Lee Byung Hun had left the project during production last year due to personal reasons.
Confirming the news, a representative from the production team stated, “It is true that Director Lee Byung Hun stepped down for personal reasons.” They further revealed that Director Ahn Gil Ho of “The Glory” joined the production as the B-team director in July 2024, helping to complete the filming. The representative added, “We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide further details regarding the timing and reasons for Director Lee Byung Hun’s departure.”
Filming for the series was completed in late October last year, and post-production is currently in full swing, with the series set to premiere sometime this year.
The production team added, “‘All The Love You Wish For’ requires significant technical work such as CGI, so we are dedicating great effort to post-production. A team of professionals from various fields has collaborated extensively to create what we hope will be one of the best projects of the year.”
Starring Kim Woo Bin, Suzy, Ahn Eun Jin, and Noh Sang Hyun, “All The Love You Wish For” is a fantasy rom-com about an overly emotional genie trapped inside a lamp and the woman who helps him escape his prison. The drama is penned by Kim Eun Sook, the famous writer known for hit dramas such as “The Glory,” “Goblin,” “Mister Sunshine,” and “Heirs.”
