The Daily Record is back with a new edition of our Town of the Week series.
Once a week, we journey across Scotland to find an unsung town or village that deserves more attention. Whether you are looking for a fun staycation spot or a potential long-term move, Carluke is definitely one to keep in mind.
Situated in the heart of the Lanarkshire countryside in South Lanarkshire, Carluke is known primarily as a commuter town. With a direct rail link with Glasgow, and regular bus services to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, it is situated in a convenient and easily accessible position.
Property in Carluke is also on the up. As reported by the Daily Record, new research conducted by experts at Zoopla revealed that the South Lanarkshire town has seen the highest increase in house price in Scotland over the past year.
Carluke saw 82 per cent of its homes increase in value by at least one per cent across the past 12 months, with the average rise being £8,900. With the town's low crime rate and friendly local community, it is easy to see why homes have soared in value.
Meanwhile, Carluke also offers plenty of shopping opportunities. Its bustling town centre is home to both nationwide chains and local independent stores selling all kinds of unique gifts.
The town is also a top destination for sports enthusiasts. Whether it is its renowned golf club or the famous John Cumming Stadium, there is something for everybody.
Elsewhere, there is lots going on in terms of food and drink, with Carluke having a number of popular restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy a bite to eat. Among the standouts are the Italian Prego Restaurant Carluke and cocktail specialists Long Island Lounge.
You can read on for a selection of photos showcasing Carluke's highlights. Meanwhile, a few of the Daily Record's previous Towns and Villages of the Week can be found here:
