This is why Invincible fans think the demon in Season 3 Episode 8 sounds so familiar
Invincible Season 3 Episode 8 just introduced a scary new character: a demon in Hell, and he’s played by a huge star.
Damien Darkblood returns in the post-credits scene of Invincible Season 3 Episode 8 – and there’s a reason you recognize the demon’s voice in Hell.
Invincible has enlisted some big hitters for its cast over the years. In addition to Steven Yeun, JK Simmons, and Sandra Oh, you have the likes of Aaron Paul as Powerplex, Sterling K. Brown as Angstrom Levy, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Conquest.
Some stars play multiple roles; for example, Chris Diamantopoulos plays Donald, Doc Seismic, and provides other voices, while Clancy Brown voices General Kregg and Ka-Hor.
Brown also played Damien Darkblood in Season 1, and he just returned at the end of Season 3. It looks like Robert Kirkman is finally getting his Hell storyline in Invincible, and he’s brought in a cult movie star to play an aspiring Devil.
Who plays the demon in Invincible Season 3 Episode 8?Prime Video/Starz
The demon in Invincible Season 3 Episode 8’s post-credits scene is played by Bruce Campbell.
In the scene, Campbell’s demon is “summoned” from the darkness by Darkblood. “Forgive me, Lord. Would not dare awaken the great beast if [I] didn’t bring welcome news,” he tells him, revealing he has means to “restore [him] to infernal throne.”
So, he’s not the Devil, but he’d certainly like to be – and they’ll need the help of a powerful “surface dweller” to make that happen (it’s probably Invincible, but it could be someone else).
Campbell is known best for his performance as Ash Williams in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead series, appearing in three films (The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness), cameoing in 2013’s remake and Evil Dead Rise, and starring in the Ash vs Evil Dead TV show.

He’s also starred in movies like Maniac Cop, The Hudsucker Proxy, and all of Raimi’s Spider-Man movies in small, hilarious roles. On TV, you may have also seen him in Ellen, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Burn Notice.
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman is a big fan of the Evil Dead movies, and he’s even sprinkled little Easter eggs throughout the series; for example, Darkblood’s notebook looks a lot like the Necronomicon.
Campbell also teased he’d be joining the cast in March 2023. “There’s a series… is it called The Immortals? It’s from The Walking Dead team… it’s an animated show and I’m a new character on it,” he said.
Many predicted he’d be the voice of Dinosaurus or perhaps even Thragg, but it appears he is voicing a completely new character who’ll return in Season 4.
