Timothée Chalamet, who portrayed Bob Dylan in biopic A Complete Unknown, is flexing his singing chops.
The actor is set to host this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, as well as serve as the show’s musical guest. It will be his first singing performance on live television following his live-singing debut in the James Mangold-directed film. In a teaser for the upcoming SNL episode, Chalamet features alongside cast member Sarah Sherman for a series of silly clips.
In one particularly curious conversation, Chalamet informs Sherman that he was “thinking of dedicating” one of his songs to her. “Oh my God. Really? Which one is it? Probably ‘Forever Young,’ right?” she asks, referencing Dylan’s 1974 track.
Without missing a beat, Chalamet starkly replies, “No, I was thinking ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.”
In another promo clip shared Wednesday for this weekend’s SNL episode, Chalamet invited the guys from his lookalike competition to help with his hosting responsibilities. “I’ve never done this before. I’m having to be SNL host and musical guest in the same week, so it’s a lot of work,” the actor explained in the teaser, before the camera panned to show four men dressed as different iterations of Chalamet.
Chalamet recently earned an Oscar nod for Best Actor for his performance as Dylan in A Complete Unknown. He was previously nominated for the same award at the 2018 Oscars for the film Call Me By Your Name, making him the youngest two-time Best Actor nominee since James Dean.
