Timothy Olyphant Joins Anya Taylor-Joy's New Apple TV+ Series Based On Bestselling Novel

Timothy Olyphant has been tapped to star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in an upcoming Apple TV+ show adaptation of a New York Times best-selling novel. Olyphant recently completed filming the English language remake of the 2021 Norwegian horror comedy The Trip, alongside fellow castmates Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, and Juliette Lewis. He is also set to join the Alien franchise as the synthetic Kirsh in Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth series, which is set to debut on FX and Hulu later this year.
Meanwhile, Taylor-Joy, who first rose to prominence as the lead in Robert Eggers’ 2015 horror movie The Witch, already has another Apple TV+ project lined up for release in a matter of weeks. Helmed by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, Taylor-Joy is set to star in The Gorge alongside Miles Teller and Sigourney Weaver. A science fiction movie in which two elite snipers are assigned to protect each side of an impenetrable gorge, the actor’s next movie is scheduled to debut on Apple TV+ on February 14.

One such project Taylor-Joy has on the horizon is the Apple TV+ adaptation of Lucky. Created by Banshee's Jonathan Tropper and based on Marissa Stapley's New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, the miniseries is set to focus on Taylor-Joy's titular character, a young woman attempting to leave her life of crime behind, though stumbles upon a lucky break that could either break her free for good or land her in jail. Alongside Taylor-Joy, the Lucky cast is also set to include Annette Benning as Priscilla, a dangerous mob leader.

Now, per Deadline, Olyphant has been tapped to join the cast of Lucky. The three-time Emmy nominee is set to star in the crime drama as John Armstrong, the father of Taylor-Joy's eponymous character in the Apple TV+ limited series. In the original novel, John was responsible for teaching his daughter to become an accomplished scam artist, thus putting her on the path of the life of crime she's working desperately to escape.
