Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s love story has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster - the romance of an all-American football star and a global pop icon.

Almost a year and a half after they first went official as a couple, rumours are now swirling that Kelce is set to propose.

The monumental occasion has led to speculation that he could get down on one knee on game day with bookies even slashing odds.

The Standard takes a look back at their relationship timeline.

July 26, 2023

The tight end made a bold move that ended up setting his romance with the Shake It Off hit-maker in motion. Speaking on his New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, he revealed the cute way that he had attempted to pass Swift his phone number at one of her Eras concerts.

He explained: “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.”

Kelce then elaborated how he was left disappointed that he had been unable to personally give this to Swift as due to the enormity of her tour, she understandably wasn’t doing any meet and greets.

He also praised her for performing in front of a “wild” crowd at Arrowhead Stadium - aka where his team happens to play.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he added, confessing that he was “a little butt-hurt” that he couldn’t chat with her. “She doesn’t meet anybody - or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal.”

September 12, 2023

After putting her publicly on blast, Swift clearly got the message and they are now reportedly in the “talking” stage of their relationship.

According to Entertainment Tonight: “Travis has been into Taylor for a while and definitely has a crush on her. He is a simple guy that is very funny, charismatic, chill, and loves playing football.”

They are even said to be “quietly hanging out” amid both of their hectic schedules, with a source dishing to the Messenger that “She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago.”

September 14, 2023

Enquiring minds now want to know the details. The NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano reposted an interview with Kelce from August 2, in which he asks the footballer about Swift and whether it’s true he tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it.

“I said what I said. And I meant what I said when I said it. And you know what, it is what it is. I’m not gonna talk about my personal life. I know what you writers wanna hear, and you wanna hear more about that and I’m not gonna give you anything,” Kelce is heard saying in the clip.

He doesn’t just leave it there however, shutting down further questions on the matter when asked whether Swift has “reached out”.

Looking at the camera, he makes his position clear, saying: “And that’s gonna wrap it up here...”

On the same date, another broadcaster decided to try and pump his brother for info.

Jason was also not playing ball however, saying: “I’ve seen these rumors. I cannot comment.”

Referencing his younger sibling’s 2016 reality TV show Catching Kelce, he added: “Ever since Catching Kelce, everybody’s been infatuated with Travis’s love life. I don’t really know what’s going on there, but I know Travis is having fun and we’ll see what happens with whoever he ends up with.”

September 21, 2023

The Messenger seems to have some serious intel, with a source now claiming: “[Travis and Taylor] have hung out twice, and it’s nothing serious.

“She thinks he is very charming, and they have been texting this last week. He is a little embarrassed at how much attention they are getting, but he has told her he would love to continue seeing her. They are seeing where things go.”

September 24, 2023

Swift sent the internet into meltdown by turning up to one of Kelce’s games where she sat next to his mother, Donna.

Meanwhile, another pesky source told People: “Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends. Travis invited her to the game, and of course she said ‘yes.’ She just thought it was a fantastic way to spend Sunday.”

September 25, 2023

Word of their post-game date is now spreading like wildfire.

Entertainment Tonight reports that he shut down a restaurant so he could throw an after-party for Swift, his family, and his teammates.

Their insider said: “Travis bought out the restaurant for his family and team. Taylor arrived, wearing a denim dress, and was seen snacking, having some cocktails and dancing alongside Travis. The two were very affectionate with one another but kept things fun and lighthearted. Travis’ teammates also showed up to the after-party, as well as his mom and dad, Donna and Ed. The party lasted until 2am.”

September 27, 2023

Kelce one again uses his podcast to sing Swift’s praises, saying: “Shout-out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy. That was pretty ballsy. I um....I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light. And on top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans, of course.”

He adds: “To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with Mom. To see how Chiefs kingdom was all excited that she was there, that shit was absolutely hysterical and it was definitely a game I’ll remember that’s for damn sure. And then we just slid off in the getaway car at the end.”

He then attempts to put up some boundaries, saying: “It is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives. She’s not in the media as much as I am doing this show every single week and having fun during the NFL season on other guys’ shows.”

October 1, 2023

Things appear to be hotting up as not only does Swift show up for another one of Kelce’s game - she brings backup!

Amongst her star-studded entourage as the Chiefs go up against the New York Jets are Blake Lively, Sabrina Carpenter, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Antoni Porowski, and Hugh Jackman.

October 6, 2023

Swift reportedly “quietly flew” to Minnesota to celebrate Kelce’s birthday weekend ahead of the Chiefs game against the Minnesota Vikings on October 8.

October 14, 2023

The singer and NFL star were reportedly all over each other at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in New York City, following their surprise appearances on the sketch show.

A source told People that at one point, Kelce “takes both her hands and puts them on his shoulder, so they’re face-to-face, and then he takes both his hands and grabs her waist.

“They’re leaning in, they’re kissing each other. They’re whispering. They’re talking, going back and forth about what to order, like, ‘Should we get a steak? Should we get espresso martinis?’ And then they lean in and they’re kissing again. They're touching each other the whole time.”

The couple stepped out for their second date night in a row, holding hands as they left The Waverly Inn in New York.

The pair seemed unfazed about going public with their romance, happily smiling for photos as they headed home.

October 18, 2023

Kelce bought a $6 million home in Kansas City, seemingly so that he and Swift could have more privacy and security, TMZ reported.

The mansion is in a gated community and is much more sheltered than his old home, sources said.

The property boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and more than 16,000 square feet of living space.

October 22, 2023

Swift showed up to watch Kelce with the Kansas City Chiefs play against the Chargers, cheering from the stands while wearing a Chiefs jersey.

She and Kelce looked loved-up as they posed for photos with friends after the game, with Swift kissing her man on the cheek.

November 10 and November 11, 2023

Kelce flew to Argentina to visit Swift during the international leg of her tour. They were spotted holding hands while going for a dinner date.

A day later, Kelce watched the Midnights singer’s show, in which she changed the Karma lyrics to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs”.

Swift ended the show by running into the athlete’s arms and kissing him.

November 20, 2023

Kelce gushed about Taylor in his cover story with WSJ Mag, calling her “a genius” who’s “hilarious”.

“I’ve never been a man of words. Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been f**king mind-blowing. I’m learning every day,” he said.

“Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them....I’ve never dealt with it. But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it.

“The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange.”

Swift opened up about her relationship with Kelce during an interview with TIME in which she was named Person of the Year.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told the outlet.

“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

She added that they are comfortable with supporting each other in public.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she said.

“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

Swift and her family spent the day with Kelce and his dad, a source told the Daily Mail.

“Seeing their families together on such a special holiday was the best gift ever for Taylor,” the insider said.

“She’s never had this happen before and it made the holiday the most meaningful one for her. Her friends think that this is just more proof that Travis is going to be a Swiftie for life.”

They were seen kissing with their arms around each other at a party as the clock struck midnight.

January 28, 2024

Swift walked onto the field to celebrate the Chiefs winning the AFC Championship game, with the singer kissing a tearful Kelce.

There was emotional footage of the couple embracing, with fans claiming Kelce could be overhead saying, "I love you so much it's not even funny" as Swift apparently replied: “I’ve never been so proud of anyone in my life ever”.

January 31, 2024

Kelce said he had known Swift for around a month before she attended her first Chiefs game.

“We had known each other for close to a month up to that point. It wasn’t just an out-of-the-blue ‘Hey, come to the game,’” he said.

“It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Hopefully everybody realizes that we’re two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it, man. It’s nothing more than that.

“As much as the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it, and we enjoy every single bit of it. And sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends.”

Swift flew to watch the game after a long journey from Tokyo, where she had played a concert on Saturday evening.

She was pictured arriving at the stadium with her famous friends, including rapper Ice Spice, singer Lana Del Rey and actress Blake Lively.

The singer was also seen greeting Kelce's older brother, NFL star Jason Kelce.

Swift later hard-launched Kelce on her TikTok at the afterparty, sharing a hilarious video of them partying with her parents.

Kelce visited Swift in Australia during the superstar’s Eras Tour and the pair were seen visiting Sydney Zoo.

The footballer reportedly travelled from Los Angeles to Hawaii, and from there to Sydney to see his girlfriend.

The superstar couple were pictured packing on the PDA during a holiday in the Bahamas.

The pair jetted off to Harbour Island and were seen kissing in the ocean, as well as holding hands as they walked along the beach.

According to Page Six, the couple stayed at a luxurious estate called Rosalita House - where Kylie Jenner vacationed in March 2020.

Their beautiful beachfront villa has six bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, and an entire wait staff for a staggering $15,000 per night.

April 10, 2024

Kelce joked that he had no idea how he won over Swift during an episode of the podcast New Heights.

His guest, rapper Lil Dicky, said their relationship is the “best thing ever” and called out “bitter losers” who “hate” on their romance.

Kelce responded: “I appreciate that. I don’t know how I did it because she does not - he wasn’t into sports. So I don’t know how the f*** I did it.”

“I’m having a blast in life, baby. Just flying high, enjoying it all,” he added when asked about how he’s dealing with all the recent media exposure.

“Bringing new lives to the football world, opening the football world to new things.”

The couple seemed to have the time of their lives as they partied at Coachella on day two and three.

They were seen dancing and kissing, listening to DJ James Kennedy’s Cruel Summer remix, and singing along to Karma.

They skipped the first night of the festival to enjoy a sushi dinner date.

He carried Swift onstage in his arms and applied make-up to her face with a brush during the routine, as almost 90,000 screaming Swifties watched on.

Recalling his onstage performance with Swift, he added: “Listen, the one thing I told myself is, ‘Do not drop the baby. Do not drop Taylor on your way over [to] this damn couch.’

“The golden rule was ‘Do not drop Taylor. Get her to the couch safely.

Kelce was quick to shut down the fake documents.

“These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued, or authorized by this agency,” his agents said.

“We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.”

Kelce talked about his ideal date for getting married on New Heights after a fan called in to say his girlfriend wants to get married in the winter during football season.

“I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall, because the all the weddings I’ve been to — my friends always do it in the summer,” he said.

“You guys gotta be more in sync on things. You gotta be willing to, you know, find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good.”

He added that he's “seen weddings in f***ing February, I’ve seen weddings everywhere, but the fall… I’m not so sure if the fall is a good wedding season.”
