SCRATCHING OUR HEADS

THE Masked Singer's newest episode is bringing its first double unmasking of the season.

Teeth's departure last week left seven contestants still in the running - Wolf, Snail, Bush, Kingfisher, Bear, Dressed Crab and Pufferfish.

But two of the celebs will have to bid the show goodbye tonight.

It comes as ITV has finally confirmed the date for the season finale.

Last week, the Masked Singer fans were left stunned after Teeth was unmasked as TV presenter Mel Giedroyc.

It seems the mystery celebs this year are certainly giving the ITV show’s judges a run for their money.

The Masked Singer is available on ITVX and STV Player, while the new instalment of the singing competition airs on ITV every Saturday.

During her radio show, Mel talked about Masked Singer experience, saying: “So much fun. Got de-masked. It’s all fine, it’s not a singing competition, it’s a guessing game.”

“They thought I was Alan Shearer, don’t know how to feel about that. Obviously pleased to have footballer legs,” she joked.

Who’s behind the mask—Mel or Alan Shearer? ????????

Bush kicked off the show with a clue song “Our House” by Madness.

It was followed by Snail’s performing “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips.

Wolf took on the stage with “The Candy Man” by Sammy Davis Jr while Kingfisher sang a rendition of “Luck Be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra.

Dressed Crab impressed the panel with “Are You Gonna Go My Way” by Lenny Kravitz and Bear sang Tender by Blur.

Pufferfish had the panel mesmerised with the performance of Lose Control by Teddy Swims.

Teeth performed the Neighbour’s theme as the clue song and ended up in the bottom two with Bear.

The evening’s biggest moment was unmasking of the Teeth who was revealed to be former Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc.

Mel – a comedy star and well-loved TV presenter – went completely under the radar this series and was not once guessed by the panel after she repeatedly changed her voice.

As she revealed her face – Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan gasped in shock.

Thus far, fans have suggested the likes of Simon Farnaby, Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse.

However, they now seem certain that Harry Hill is behind the mask.

One wrote on X: “Just turned on #TheMaskedSinger and instantly convinced #Kingfisher is Harry Hill without seeing a single clue. 100%, no doubt. Cracked it.“

Another remarked: “So obviously Harry Hill.”

While a third said: Only certainty on #maskedsingeruk is that #kingfisher is Harry Hill.”

Have they cracked the mystery?

Pufferfish has been wowing viewers with her vocals – but have fans worked out who it is?

Fans are predicting Samantha Barks is the voice behind the Pufferfish costume.

One wrote on X: “samantha barks is pufferfish, she was in “the last five years” and the clue song “lose control” was a hint to her playing elsa and how she looses control with her ice powers ?!”

Another agreed: “samantha barks was in a musical called the last five years…there was a clue saying something about 5 years on a diary.”

A third said: “I’ve seen Samantha Barks enough times on the West End and listened to her albums enough to know she’s pufferfish. The way she belts those notes.”

THE MASKED Singer panel will undergo a shock shake-up this series as one of the judges was forced to step down through a schedule clash.

New panellist Maya Jama was already recruited to replace Rita Ora as the pop star had to commit to filming the American version of the show at the same time.

Now The Sun can reveal that comedian Mo Gilligan had to duck out because he had tour dates to cover in the US.

ITV has lined up two big names to replace Mo for the episodes, though.

Celebrated actor Richard E Grant will cover the February 8 episode, whilst last year’s winner Danny Jones is in for the final on February 15.

The series has already attracted other huge guest judges including Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, actress Suranne Jones and Vicky McClure, plus Olympian Tom Daley.

Viewers also seem to be convinced about Snail’s identity.

Many are guessing Irish musician and actress Andrea Corr, known for family band The Corrs alongside her siblings.

But have they got it right?

One wrote on X: “Andrea Corr for sure (poet and I didn’t know it) is snail.”

Another penned: “Snail sounds like Andrea Corr #themaskedsingeruk.”

A third theorised: “Snail is Andrea Corr. Picture of Duncan James, he’s in Blue. Corrs album In Blue. She also writes a song called Hold On.”

Now with a few performances under their belt, viewers seem to be certain on Bear’s identity…

The character’s clues and voice seem to have led many to musician Example – aka Elliot Gleave.

One fan wrote on X: “If you’ve never heard Example. Just search his voice and you’ll know he’s Bear instantly.”

While another added: “A lot of people saying Bear is Example – This fits as he did an album with Blur’s Graham Coxon.”

Dressed Crab had the judges on their feet on the weekend as he belted out the Lenny Kravitz hit song Are You Gonna Go My Way.

Fans at home also watched his incredible performance in awe and they are certain they’ve figured out his identity.

Ruling out the popular favourite guess of Gregory Porter, viewers are wondering if Dressed Crab is actually Teddy Swims.

Discussing their theories on Reddit, one fan said Saturday night’s clue of “working with a little faith” was a big hint towards the Lose Control star.

“I was in the Gregory Porter camp until tonight and one line in the clue package sent me off in a completely different direction. I think it may be Teddy Swims?” the fan wrote.
