The One Show: Unforgotten star shares what's in his backpack
Sanjeev Bhaskar, the beloved Unforgotten actor, has revealed the secrets of his character's backpack as the hit ITV show returns to our screens.
The 61-year-old actor, who has won over audiences as DI Sunil Khan since the series premiered in 2015, has sparked curiosity among fans about what DI Sunil's black bag contains.
During an appearance on BBC's The One Show on Friday (January 31), Sanjeev shed light on the contents of his bag after some viewers criticised it for looking childish and questioned his choice.
Speaking with hosts Ross Kemp and Clara Amfo, he explained: "There was a lot of weird criticism that I got after the first series about why my character had a backpack- I just chose a bag that was practical."

He added: "They kind of said 'he looks like a child, he doesn't wear it properly.'"
To add intrigue, from the second series onwards, Sanjeev requested the costume department to fill the backpack with random items without telling him what they were until the day's end.
The actor amusingly shared that the bag has contained various unexpected items, including a photo of his co-star Sinéad Keenan, who portrays DCI Jessica James, and even a blow-up guitar, reports Wales Online.

After two long years, Unforgotten will be returning to ITV for series six. Season five left fans heartbroken after the loss of a lead character, DCI Cassie Stuart, portrayed by Nicola Walker, who was killed off at the end of season four.
In the first episode of the last series, emotions were high showcasing a tense exchange between DCI Jessica and Sunny, who's still grappling with the loss of his friend and colleague, Cassie.
Series six returns to screens in February
Devoted viewers were quick to pour out their feelings on Twitter, with one devastated fan posting, "Omg, that was truly heartbreaking, Cassie we miss you."
As if the return of Unforgotten, which kicks off on Sunday 9th February at 9pm, isn't exciting enough, ITV has also announced a newcomer to the roster: Protection, another police drama we can't wait to get hooked on, set to unfold over six compelling parts.
The One Show airs Mondays-Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
