Brenda Blethyn is making her final appearance as Vera this Christmas, and reveals whether an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing will be next
Brenda Blethyn is wearing the iconic hat and coat of DCI Vera Stanhope for the last time in the final series of Vera, beginning on New Yearâs Day. The 78 year old actress has played the role of the obsessive Northumberland police inspector since 2011, but has no plans for retirement now the series has finished. She went straight from filming the last episodes to making a movie with Andrea Riseborough, and at a recent launch for Vera in London shared she had no plans for retiring, saying: âOh no, I havenât retired.
