Vernon Kay cautioned by BBC colleague after 'causing a stir' on radio show

Vernon Kay received a lighthearted ticking off from one of his fellow BBC presenters after confessing that his vivid description of his beloved bacon and cheese sandwich had "caused quite a stir" among listeners earlier this week.
This humorous episode happened when the former 'Family Fortunes' host raised a question to his colleagues following the reading of a touching note from a Radio 2 listener.
The listener wrote about picking up a "little Friday treat" to surprise their spouse, leading to an Italian culinary term that seemingly puzzled Vernon.
While sharing the listener's message, Vernon said: "'I'm just picking up some Bombolonis to take to my gorgeous wife, Jackie, at work, a little Friday treat'."
His uncertainty about the term prompted an amusing conversation. Vernon inquired about the meaning of bomboloni, prompting his BBC co-worker to describe it as "A soft Italian doughnut, often filled with cream, custard or jam," reports Lancs Live.
To which Vernon humorously replied: "Why did you say it like that? That's a bit awkward. It's like me describing me bacon and cheese butty."
The colleague then told Vernon to "not go down that road again", to which he laughed, replying: "It caused quite a stir, the way I described my..." However, his colleague could then be heard in the background telling him "no" and "just get on with it".
Bombolonis, the Italian doughnuts filled with delights such as pastry cream or Nutella, take their name from 'bomba', the Italian for 'bomb', as noted by 'the kitchen'.
Vernon, who enjoys a bacon and cheese sandwich as a weekend indulgence, also admitted to having three breakfasts as part of his new health "regime."

He explained: "I know, I'm trying to get my calories up and then I'll trim them down for summer – for my holiday; for my Speedos. I am on a regime!" Emphasising the importance of self-care, Vernon later declared his intention to "go for it", which a colleague suggested was particularly advisable "particularly if you wanna wear Speedos".
