Tom Brady’s transition from the gridiron to the broadcasting booth hasn’t exactly been a smooth process this season.
Beyond the hurdles Brady faces as a minority owner of the Raiders, the future Hall-of-Famer’s stop-and-start commentary and hesitancy at times to offer in-depth insight as Fox’s top NFL color commentator has drawn plenty of criticism from sports personalities like Bill Simmons.
One of Brady’s former teammates in Foxborough also doesn’t seem to be a fan of Brady’s career switch.
During an appearance on the “Boomer and Gio” Show on WFAN in New York on Tuesday, former Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork was asked his thoughts on Brady’s broadcasting skills.

“Hey, before you go, what do you think of Tom Brady as a broadcaster?” WFAN host Gregg Giannotti asked Wilfork.
Wilfork responded with a lengthy stare at Giannotti, before finally responding with, “I don’t know.”
“I’ve never been stared at before like that in my life,” Giannotti replied. “Other than my wife. She has given me those eyes.”
After waiting out a few laughs, Wilfork eventually reflected on Brady’s performance so far during his first season with Fox.
“I mean, he’s very knowledgeable of the game,” Wilfork said of Brady. “Like that’s what it is. But I would rather him be my quarterback than on TV doing what he’s doing now. I love him for my quarterback.”

While Brady is currently in the first year of a 10-year, $375 million broadcasting contract with Fox, both Giannotti and Wilfork acknowledged that there’s no guarantee Brady will remain on the mic over the next decade — especially given his new role with the Raiders.
“He may only be doing it this year,” Giannotti said. “He’s so involved with the Raiders ownership. I wouldn’t be surprised, I think there are a lot of rumblings he does the Super Bowl and he’s done.”
“I heard there is a lot going on legally with what he can and cannot do. So yeah,” Wilfork added.
While Wilfork’s candid comments might fall in line with more of the general sentiment regarding Brady’s struggles, several of the quarterbacks former teammates have defended him amid his growing pains in the booth.
“The guy has made tremendous improvement from week one to whatever week it is now, Rob Gronkowski said of Brady at “The Tradition” awards event in Boston in November. “And that’s Tom for you. I mean, whatever the guy is going to do, he’s going to succeed. … That’s how he was on the football field.

“If he messed up, he would figure out how to get the job done in the meeting room, see what he did, make the corrections, and go back out on the practice field and develop as a player and not make the same mistake. So if he just carries what he did on the football field and in meetings to his next phase of his life, which he’s doing, he’s going to be a complete success.”
