“Wow @nbcsnl just wow. Incredible! I can’t believe what I’m watching,” Adele wrote on her Instagram Stories, along with a video of her in her living room singing along to the television coverage of ‘Killing Me Softly’.
Among the other big names on the SNL anniversary show were Lady Gaga, who made a surprise appearance with Andy Samberg for a medley of Lonely Island hits, including ‘Dick In A Box’.
Elsewhere, the night saw the surviving members of Nirvana – Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear – reunite for the second time in two weeks, this time with Post Malone on vocals to perform ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.
Miley Cyrus also appeared to play her Grammy-winning hit ‘Flowers’, in a viral performance that saw her give shout-outs to Paul Rudd, Adam Sandler and SNL creator Lorne Michaels, while Jack White rounded out the show with a Neil Young cover and a rousing version of ‘Seven Nation Army’.

Celebrations will continue on Sunday (February 16) with the SNL 50 Anniversary Special, for which Paul McCartney, Sabrina Carpenter, Paul Simon have already been announced as guests.
One person who did not join Lauryn Hill on stage on Friday was former Fugees bandmate Pras Michel, who said he was “done” with the group in November. He is currently facing 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of being involved in a billion-dollar Malaysian money laundering scheme.
Michel also filed a lawsuit against Hill in October, accusing her of fraud after the group’s anniversary tour across the US was cancelled in August just days before it was due to kick off.
Adele, meanwhile, recently sent Rachel Chinouriri a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her on her Brit Award nominations, and “scared off” potential buyers of her former £6million mansion after claiming it was “haunted”.

The singer has also been sued by a Brazilian samba composer, who claims that her song ‘Million Years Ago’ “blatantly” plagiarised his composition ‘Mulheres (Women)’.
