Watch: Hyeri Is A Queen Bee Rejected By Transfer Student Jung Soo Bin In “Friendly Rivalry” Preview
Upcoming drama “Friendly Rivalry” has shared a sneak peek of its premiere!
Based on a popular webtoon, “Friendly Rivalry” is a mystery thriller set at Chaehwa Girls’ High School, an elite institution for the top 1 percent in South Korea, where cutthroat academic competition takes place between the students. Jung Soo Bin stars as Woo Seul Gi, a transfer student who becomes entangled in her classmates’ hidden ambitions—and the secret behind the mysterious death of her father, a former college entrance exam question setter.
Hyeri will star as Yoo Jae Yi, a genius student who has never lost her first-place ranking and holds significant influence at Chaehwa Girls’ High School. As the daughter of the owner of J Medical Center, Jae Yi is both wealthy and powerful, and with her stunning beauty, she commands attention everywhere she goes.
In a newly released preview from the upcoming drama, Jae Yi unexpectedly faces her first rejection at school after newcomer Seul Gi transfers into her class. The clip begins with Seul Gi—who is still wearing her uniform from her previous school—searching online for a used Chaehwa Girls’ High School uniform when Jae Yi suddenly calls her name.
Jae Yi, who was expecting to be seatmates with Seul Gi, asks, “Why are you sitting in this seat?” Seul Gi, who seems to be making excuses not to sit with Jae Yi near the back of the classroom, awkwardly replies, “I have bad vision, so I can’t see the blackboard that well.” Jae Yi responds with a friendly smile, “Then you should have said something. We can move seats together.” She then turns expectantly to Seul Gi’s seatmate, who hurries to gather her things so she can yield her seat to Jae Yi.
However, Seul Gi stops her by telling Jae Yi, “Let’s not inconvenience the other students.” The whole class appears shocked that someone has dared to defy Jae Yi, who glances around the room before saying nonchalantly, “Sure, if that’s how you feel.”
Jae Yi then takes her seat at the back of the classroom next to her new seatmate, who worriedly asks her, “Jae Yi, you’re not upset, are you?” Jae Yi reassures her that she’s fine, and her seatmate excitedly exclaims, “I always wanted to be your seatmate, and I can’t believe that dream is coming true in our senior year. This must mean that I’m going to follow you to a good college. Please teach me a lot in the future… I’ve never been seatmates with a high-ranking student like you, so I’m really nervous.”
After a moment of thought, Jae Yi remarks, “Come to think of it, this is my first time sitting with a seatmate that I didn’t choose myself.” As Seul Gi discreetly eavesdrop on their conversation, Jae Yi looks at her new seatmate and bursts out laughing.
