Wayne Rooney next job confirmed ahead of coaching return
Manchester United news as Wayne Rooney's next job is confirmed one week before his return to the coaching field in Dubai
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has landed his first job since leaving Plymouth Argyle - with him set to continue his punditry career this week.
Rooney left his role at Holmes Park on New Year's Eve after picking up just wins from 25 games. His short time at Plymouth came after he was sacked by Birmingham City last season.
The former United striker has been linked with a number of jobs in the English Football League since his departure but has not yet returned to work. During the February half-term break, Rooney is set to return to coaching as the new ambassador for Football Escapes, running sessions for children attending Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai between February 17 and February 21.
Before that, Rooney will return to football for this week's UEFA Champions League play-off ties. The 39-year-old has been confirmed to make his Amazon Prime Video Sport debut as part of the punditry team for Manchester City vs Real Madrid.
Both Roy Keane and Gary Neville have followed the path from management into punditry to great success. Rooney has been a regular on The Overlap's 'Stick to Football' podcast and was part of the BBC's coverage of the European Championship in the summer.
He has also made appearances for Sky Sports, joining the punditry team for Everton's 2-0 win over Merseyside rivals Liverpool last April prior to taking over at Plymouth. TNT also used him alongside Rio Ferdinand for the match between United and Everton at Old Trafford.
