His client list reads like a whoâ??s who of the most famous people on the planet, with A-listers turning to David Sherborne in times of need
Prince Harry â closely followed by David Sherborne â leaving the Mirror Group phone hacking trial in June, 2023
Neil MockfordThereâs only one lawyer that the A-list call upon when it comes to matters of defamation, privacy or confidentiality, and thatâs David Sherborne. The barrister, who previously represented Princess Diana, was a prominent figure in the Leveson Inquiry, arguing the case for celebrities whose privacy had been violated via phone hacking orchestrated by newspapers including The News of the World. His floppy-haired good looks and omnipresent tan have also drawn comment: indeed the Evening Standard once quipped that he could be mistaken for a celebrity himself.
Now, heâs back in the media spotlight once again, this time representing the Duke of Sussex. Today, Prince Harry settled a landmark legal case against News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun, over claims of unlawful intrusion into his life. As per the BBC, NGN has agreed to pay âsubstantial damagesâ and apologised for âserious intrusionâ between 1996 and 1011, admitting that âincidents of unlawful activityâ were carried out by private investigators working for The Sun. The group also offered the Duke an âunequivocal apologyâ for the distress caused through the âextensive coverageâ and âserious intrusionâ into the private life of his late mother, Princess Diana.
