Whoopi Goldberg is sharing her thoughts about the upcoming presidential inauguration. The actress and TV host explained that she supports Carrie Underwood, as the singer has now been unveiled as a performer at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Jan. 20.

"I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Carrie said in a statement, via Variety.

"Lots of her fans aren't thrilled about it, but some of her fans are," Whoopi said. “If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform someplace, I believe [she has] the same right," the media personality explained.

This is not the first time Carrie has talked about public opinion regarding politics. “I feel like more people try to pin me places politically," she said to The Guardian in 2019. "I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins."
