Why Dax Shepard Didn't Join Kristen Bell at the 2025 SAG Awards
Dax Shepard didn't join Kristen Bell at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards—here's why.
In the latest edition of "celebrities, they're just like us," Dax Shepard skipped yesterday's 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards for a reason that just about every parent can relate to. On Sunday, the comedian stayed home while his wife, Kristen Bell, hosted the evening's ceremony because, well, the couple simply couldn't find a babysitter.
Bell—who was also nominated Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for her role as Joanne in Netflix's hit rom-com series Nobody Wants This—previously joked there was "no way to know" whether or not Shepard would be at the awards show. "He’s his own man and I support him," she exclusively told People. "I don’t know if he’ll even come because to be honest, we don’t have very many babysitters who are ever available and he has to watch the children."

"Sometimes he’s just like, ‘We have no babysitter, God bless, I hope you do great and have a fun night,'" added Bell, who shares daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, with Shepard.

Shepard was on hand, however, the night before at Keep The Memory Alive's annual "Power Of Love" Gala in Las Vegas, where he and Bell were joined by other celebrities—including Maria Shriver, Jimmy Kimmel, and Billy Crystal—to support the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

And even if Shepard did attend last night's SAG Awards, there's no telling if he'd actually be paying attention. While attending the 2025 Golden Globes in January, the podcast host went viral after Bell shared a clip of him watching the Detroit Lions football game on his phone, which was hidden in between his legs. "#priorities,” Bell captioned the clip on Instagram.
