Woman arrested for choking husband with a phone charger, waking him by kicking and threatening him: Solon police blotter
A man suspected of committing crimes at two Tractor Supply locations, one in Solon and the other in Broadview Heights, was taken into custody on a fluke traffic stop in Avon.

SOLON, Ohio --
Domestic violence: Solon Road
At 6:20 p.m. Jan. 12, A Solon man, 54, arrived at the police station to report that his wife had physically assaulted him on recent occasions.
He stated that while sleeping on Jan. 11, he was awakened by her kicking and threatening him.
On Jan. 10, he recounted, she choked him with a phone charger cord.
The man wished to sign charges against the woman. Officers reported to the couple’s Flanders Drive home where they arrested the woman, 44, of Solon.
She did not provide a statement after her arrest and was taken to Solon Jail, where she was charged with domestic violence.
Passing a bad check: S.O.M. Center Road
At 9:05 a.m. Jan. 7, management of Carter Lumber, 6199 S.O.M. Center Road, reported that it had received a check on Nov. 7, 2024, as payment for building materials from a 47-year-old Lakewood man.
After the check was returned to the business as “insufficient funds,” management attempted to contact the man to have him “make good” on the check.
The effort was unsuccessful. The investigating police officer was able to make contact with the man.
He stated that he would make payment in full by the end of the week. Carter Lumber management will press charges if he does not comply. If the man does not comply, he faces a fifth-degree felony.
Theft: Kruse Drive
At 12:15 p.m. Jan. 7, a manager from Tractor Supply, 6025 Kruse Drive, reported that earlier that morning, a man had come into the store and purchased two gift cards at approximately $200 each, as well as some clothing items. It was later found that the man had used a stolen credit card.
The clerk processed the payment because she did not recognize an indicator of possible fraud, as the cash register requested that she manually key-in the last four numbers of the credit card. Staff later checked with the financial institution and learned that the credit card account was compromised.
The store was able to cancel the gift cards without a loss, but it did lose $35 worth of merchandise.
Police investigated and learned that the Tractor Supply location in Broadview Heights had also dealt with a theft attempt involving credit card fraud, but they did not process the transaction.
An officer also learned that the suspect vehicle, a rented gray Toyota sedan with New York registration, may have been involved in both instances.
The described Toyota was stopped in Avon, on a fluke, for a traffic violation.
The driver had a suspended license and was found in possession of stolen credit cards. The driver was arrested and will face local charges. Solon Detectives will investigate to see if the cases are connected.
Seized vehicle: Park East Drive
At 2:10 a.m. Jan. 7, an officer on patrol noticed a dark colored Mercedes sedan parked in the Park East Apartments lot, located in the 34000 block of Park East Drive.
The car had on it an obstructed license plate. Upon further inspection, the officer suspected that the plate was actually a counterfeit.
The officer continued to investigate and saw that the required public facing vehicle identification number (VIN) had been removed or covered.
The officer decided to have the vehicle towed for further investigation of a suspected stolen vehicle. An investigation is taking place.
Unauthorized use of computers: Solon Road
At 5:35 p.m. Jan. 8, a Solon woman reported an unauthorized use of computers. She stated that she noticed that a social network for which she has an account appeared to be compromised.
It also appeared as though her home computer network had been hacked and altered.
Detectives will investigate.
This matter was initially reported as a possible stalking case, although no specific information was reported as to why.
Theft: Aurora Road
At 7:40 p.m. Jan. 10, a Solon man, 26, reported that the contents of his wallet were stolen after being left in an unlocked locker at Planet Fitness, 33605 Aurora Road.
Credit cards and $80 cash were taken. No unauthorized card charges had been reported.
Warrant arrest: Kruse Drive
At 9:15 p.m. Jan. 11, an officer on patrol stopped on Kruse Drive a white Nissan Altima for a suspected window tint violation.
The driver, a Cleveland woman, 36, was found to have a warrant entered for her arrest from Cleveland police for a misdemeanor assault charge.
Police arrested the woman and transported her to Garfield Heights, where she was turned over to Cleveland police officers. Her car was released to a family member who arrived at the scene.
Warrant arrest: Portz Parkway
At 11:20 p.m. Jan. 11, an officer noticed a license plate hanging from a Toyota Sienna minivan, that was secured with only one screw.
The officer stopped the car for an improper display of plates and learned that the driver was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant for vehicle theft by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department in Colorado.
Police arrested the driver, a Solon man, 62, and took him to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office jail. His car was towed.
Drug offense: US 422
At 12:35 a.m. Jan. 12, an officer ran a registration check on a red GMC pickup truck and learned that the license plate was registered to a Honda.
He stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a Lakewood man, 32, who had a warrant entered by Parma police for his arrest.
The officer had the man exit the car, along with a female passenger, 36, of North Olmsted. The man gave consent to search the car and the officer found a small bag of suspected drugs in the pocket of a pair of jeans stored in the car.
The suspect told the officer the drug was Ketamine, a controlled substance. The item was seized.
Police arrested the man for drug possession. The passenger was released without charges.
The car was towed.
Weapon offense: Aurora Road
At 12:50 a.m. Jan. 13, an officer on patrol saw a gray Mitsubishi Mirage heading west on Aurora Road, from S.O.M. Center Road.
The car displayed an expired plate and was suspected for a window tint violation.
The driver told the officer that he knew he was not supposed to be driving, as he had a suspended license.
The driver and a passenger, the latter a Maple Heights man, 24, were asked to exit the car so it could be towed. The officer asked the driver if there were weapons in the car, and was told that there were none. The officer, however, found a loaded semiautomatic pistol in the glove compartment.
The driver was arrested and taken to Solon Jail where he was charged with having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony due to previous criminal convictions. He was also charged with improper handling of a firearm, a fourth-degree felony; driving under suspension; and having an illegal window tint.
The car was towed. The passenger was released without charges.
