Wynne Evans apologises for 'inappropriate' remark as he pulls out of show
Wynne Evans was forced to miss dancing on the Strictly tour in Glasgow due to an ankle injury.
Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has apologised for an "inappropriate and unacceptable" remark he made during the show's press launch.
The 52-year-old Welsh opera singer, best known for his role in GoCompare insurance adverts, is currently on a nationwide tour with professional partner Katya Jones.
He was reportedly heard making a sexual remark to a woman in a video filmed during the launch event on 16 January, the Mail On Sunday reported.
"My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise," Evans said in a statement.
A spokesperson for the Strictly live tour and BBC Studios said: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints.
"We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour."
Evans missed dancing on Saturday night due to an ankle injury and shared images of his bruised ankle in an Instagram story.
"Ankle's getting a bit better, it was great to be able to sing in Glasgow tonight, even if I couldn't dance, hopefully back tomorrow," he said.
"But watch this space, I'll let you know in the morning. See how the swelling goes down, and all that kind of stuff, thanks for all the lovely messages, amazing."
He did, however, take to the stage and sing for the audience.
In October, Evans and Jones issued an apology for a "joke" which saw her move Evans' hand from her waist during the show.
Express Online has contacted BBC and Wynne Evans representatives for further comment.
