Artist and entrepreneur Ye, better known as Kanye West, has admitted to physically assaulting women.
The confession comes hours before his account went dark on Feb. 9. Ye posted about it on X in an attempt to point out the double standard between rapper Kendrick Lamar and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs. Both men have been accused of physically assaulting a woman.

He posted, “LET ME START BY SAYING. I HAVE HIT WOMEN BEFORE. DRAKE SAID KENDRICK HIT HIS GIRL. BUT THAT IS NOT RECORDED ON TAPE LIKE THE PUFF VIDEO. I AM IN LA RIGHT NOW AT THE 4 SEASONS. I AM RISKING MY LIFE TO TWEET THIS. SO WALK WITH ME. DRAKE SAYS KENDRICK HIT HIS QUEEN. THE WORLD SEES PUFF HIT CASSIE. KENDRICK IS AT THE SUPERBOWL. PUFF IN IN JAIL.”
In May, Kendrick Lamar and Drake exchanged abuse allegations during their heated rap beef. Drake put out a diss record called “Family Matters” accusing Lamar of abusing his fiancée, Whitney Alford. Lamar hit back with accusations of his own but the slam dunk was on “Not Like Us.” In the base heavy record, Lamar calls Drake out for allegedly being a pedofile.
It’s unclear why Ye is using Lamar as his reference to compare to Combs. It may be because later on that night Lamar was performing as the Super Bowl Halftime Show act.

As for Combs, in November 2023 his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura sued him for sexual assault and physical abuse. Combs denied the claims, and the former couple settled just one day after filing the lawsuit. In May 2024, a video was released by CNN of Diddy throwing Ventura to the ground and violently kicking her as she attempted to leave the hotel they were staying at.
Ye inaccurately claimed that Diddy was in prison for hitting Ventura. However, he currently sits at the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He’s been there since last year in September and will remain there until his trial.
Like many of his posts, Ye’s support for Combs seems quite random. It started on Feb. 7, when he shared messages like “FREE PUFF” on X. He also asked President Donald Trump to release Combs. Then, later on, he uploaded a screenshot from the video of Combs abusing Ventura in the hotel. He captioned it, “You have to truly be in love to get to the point of risking everything.”
This was followed by another outrageous post where he said, “HEY QUESTION. IF SOMEONE WAS TO BEAT UP THEIR GIRL IN PUBLIC WOULD THAT BE CONSIDERED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR IS THAT OUTDOOR VIOLENCE OR IS IT JUST PUBLIC INDECENCY.”
But he didn’t stop there. Ye then posted a replica of the sweatshirt Ventura was wearing during her attempted escape from the hotel. He wrote, “THE LOVE HOODIE AVAILABLE NOW,” then added a link to his Yeezy clothing brand for fans to purchase.
After using X to praise Adolf Hitler, declare himself a Nazi, and even post pornographic content, Ye shut down his account. His friend and X owner, Elon Musk unfollowed Ye beforehand. Musk marked Kanye West’s X account as ‘Not Safe For Work’ after a follower called for a ban As for Ye’s account, Musk assured a follower about its disappearance. He wrote, “You should not be seeing that anymore.”
Before logging off, Ye showed his gratitude to Musk. “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board,” said the father-of-four. He added, “Love all of you who gave me the energy and attention. To we connect again. Good afternoon and goodnight.”
