AdvertisementOn January 29, at the 2024 SBS Entertainment Awards held at SBS Prism Tower in Seoul, Yoo Yeon-seok received the Rookie Award in the Talk & Reality category. Taking the stage, he introduced himself, saying, “I’m rookie MC Yoo Yeon-seok.”
He then surprised the audience with his unexpected acceptance speech, joking, “I never even won a rookie award at an acting awards show, so receiving one at an entertainment awards show feels quite special.” Yoo Yeon-seok had taken on a new challenge as an MC through the SBS variety show “When We Get a Chance.”
Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “As an actor, I’m used to memorizing scripts and performing accordingly, but variety shows have no scripts, which made me quite nervous at first. The biggest pressure was working alongside Yoo Jae-suk. However, thanks to the production team’s great preparation and my trust in Jae-suk hyung, I ended up having a really enjoyable time.”
Yoo Yeon-seok also expressed his deep appreciation for Yoo Jae-suk, saying, “I’m grateful to Jae-suk hyung for helping me find my footing as an MC. To me, he’s like a mother in the MC world. Can I start calling you ‘MC Mom Jae-suk’ from now on?” His witty remark sent Yoo Jae-suk into laughter as he waved his hands in protest, turning the venue into a sea of laughter.
