Watch : See how Penn Badgley comes to work? Very demure. Very cutesy.

Joe Goldberg is back and he’s taking one final look at—You.

Netflix dropped the teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of You—airing April 24—and it’s as terrifying as you’d expect. In the sneak peek, Joe [Penn Badgley] takes a haunting trip down memory lane, as he makes his way across New York City, where it all started.

“Hello, you. Do you remember me? Cause I remember you,” his infamous narration begins. “Here we are together again, back to where it began.”

As the bell over the top of Mooney's bookstore dings, Joe makes his way downstairs as clips from the previous seasons—and memories of his former victims—play. As he notes, “A lot has happened in these many years together. Identities, cities, loves. Complications.”

Finally, when he stops in front of the box that held his victims, Joe has one final warning.

“But they all led me here, to now. To where I was always meant to be,” he says. “And one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me is you. You who have been there the whole time and will be there with me until the end.”

You Season 5: You'll Kill to See Penn Badgley's Return to New York in First Look Photo

In his final words, Joe notes, “Goodbye, You.”

The return to NYC comes after You took place across the pond in London for season 4, San Fransico for season 3, and Los Angeles for season 2. And while the details surrounding the highly anticipated final series of the season have been kept under wraps,  fans got a look at Joe’s return to New York last year when Netflix released a series of teaser pics.

"Back to where it all began," Netflix wrote in a March 25 post alongside one of the photos of Penn in character. "The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production."

While speaking to E!, Penn admitted just how much work goes into the dark character and how much of his life Joe Goldberg consumes.

"With Joe, I have no time off," Badgley shared in March. "I have to do voiceovers, there's press stuff. To be honest, those six months when I'm Joe, my life is constrictive. It's very tight."
