On Feb 5th, a press conference for TVING’s original series “The Scandal of Chunhwa” was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. Director Lee Kwang-young, along with actors Go Ara, Chang Ryul, Kang Chan-hee, Son Woo-hyeon and Han Seung-yeon, attended the event.
“The Scandal of Chunhwa” (written by Seo Eun-jung, directed by Lee Kwang-young, produced by Beyond J and SLL, provided by TVING) is a romantic youth historical drama. It is about Princess Hwa-ri (Go Ara), who wants to find her true love on her own after her first love failed and later gets entangled with the city’s most popular playboy, Hwan (Chang Ryul), and the most popular prospective groom, Jang Won (Kang Chan-hee).
On this day, Han Seung-yeon, who plays Lee Ji-won, described her character as “a lady of both beauty and intelligence but clumsy when it comes to love—a lovely character”. She also addressed her daring exposure in the drama.
Han Seung-yeon said “Because of my image, some people might think, ‘Can Han Seung-yeon really do this?’ But honestly, I’ve been an adult since my debut”, eliciting laughter.
She continued, “When acting, I think such (exposure) scenes naturally fit within the narrative of the character’s love story. I had thorough discussions with the director and my co-stars to create them beautifully. I hope viewers will see them as part of the story’s charm.”

She added, “Ji-won’s personality has a contrast—sometimes she’s smart, sometimes clumsy. I hope people can find enjoyment in those aspects.”
Go Ara stated, “There are parts where a love story had to be included, which is why it has a 19+ rating. From a content perspective, it was necessary.”
