Comic Relief's Red Nose Day kicked off on Friday night with three eighties musical stars celebrating the charity's 40th anniversary, and as the evening got under way with sketches and challenges, viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, and many were in agreement about the charity night.
Presenters Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Alison Hammond, Joel Dommett, AJ Odudu, Tom Allen, Rylan Clark and Alesha Dixon took to the stage at the start to announce the upcoming highlights, including a special mini EastEnders episode, a Beyond Paradise and Not Going Out crossover, and a spoof Oasis documentary featuring former Inbetweeners stars James Buckley and Joe Thomas.
However, the eight presenters didn't reveal when any of the clips would be shown during the night.

Many fans were also looking forward to the EastEnders special episode featuring Steve McFadden as Phil Mitchell. "Does anyone know what time the #EastEnders mini episode is on with Phil in the MH unit?" said one, while another appealed: "Does anyone know when the #Eastenders Comic Relief episode will be shown tonight?"
More than an hour in, fans also pointed out that an important aspect of the show - comedy - seemed to be missing from the proceedings, following a Strictly Come Dancing sketch and one featuring a Gladiators spoof.

Absolutely awful, the mr bean throwback has been the only thing remotely funny," referring to one of the old clips that is being shown throughout the show to celebrate the anniversary.
"Reshowing classic sketches is nice, is the show no longer able to rely on the true funny individuals to perform for charity for one night?" said a third, while a fourth commented: "Comic Relief is like Sports Personality of the Year. Fantastic in its day, well beyond its sell by date. Put it, and us, out of our misery and make it stop."
Fans were more pleased with some of the charity-raising moments of the show, with special praise going out to Billy Monger, who completed the Ironman challenge for Comic Relief. "Total respect for people like Billy and others doing these challenges for free," said one, while another commented: "As soon as I saw Billy Monger challenge my phone was out to donate to #ComicRelief What an absolute warrior Billy Whizz is!"
