Fans had a lot of questions after Grant Ellis’ breakup from Litia Garr on The Bachelor finale — and Us Weekly got some answers during an exclusive interview with the lead and his new fiancée, Juliana Pasquarosa.

“With the finale last night, I did not watch it,” Juliana, 28, began. “I was really focused on trying to keep my head in a good space and going in there as happy as I’ve been this whole process.”

During the season, the twosome watched some episodes together and some separately. “We really just did our best,” she added.

On the Monday, March 24, finale, Grant, 31, spoke about being torn between Juliana and Litia, 31, after telling both women that he loved them. When he ended things with Litia on proposal day, she accused him of flipping the script and claimed he had assured her throughout the show that she was The One.

Disney/John Fleenor; Courtesy of Litia Garr/Instagram; Courtesy of Juliana Pasquarosa/Instagram Joe Amabile and Charity Lawson are offering up their two cents on Bachelor Grant Ellis’ connections with his final contestants. The Bachelor Nation alums recapped the Monday, March 3, episode of The Bachelor on the Tuesday, March 4, episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast […]

“We definitely talked about it,” Grant said of giving Juliana a heads-up about Litia’s reaction on proposal day. “It’s always a situation where it’s uncomfortable, but I think not being able to sit there and watch it, we went into our moment just thinking about the weight of our moment. Looking back, it might have been a benefit — it may have not been — but it’s definitely hard to go from an extreme low to an extreme high and to not wear it on your face. I just was happy that we were able to express our relationship and do it in a way that everybody saw.”

Before Grant and Juliana joined host Jesse Palmer to celebrate their engagement (and announce plans to move to Boston), Litia confronted Grant. She reiterated that Grant repeatedly called her his “No. 1 emotional connection” and claimed that he replied “I know, I love you” when she said “we’re getting engaged tomorrow” the day before their proposal.

“There’s a lot [she said] that I didn’t align with,” Grant told Us about Litia’s claims. “But I let her speak her truth and her piece. I’m not gonna sit up there and argue with her on stage about what she thought I said. But I think that having a little more clarity — when you are the Bachelor, you do see your final two contestants as somebody that could be your wife. That’s where some confusion came into play. There’s room for interpretation when things are said, ‘off camera.’ At that point in time, I can’t really say much. I’m not gonna argue, I just have to accept whatever the conditions are and apologize and let her feel how she feels because she’s in a tough situation and she’s hurt. I understand.”

Host Jesse Palmer assured Us that The Bachelor season 29 trailer isn’t overselling how torn lead Grant Ellis was ahead of the final rose ceremony. “It’s real,” Palmer promised during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly pegged to his partnership with Great Clips. “And I don’t know if you could tell from watching that from […]

Litia also made several comments about Juliana. On the finale day, she said that Juliana should “have a lot of questions” for Grant about their relationship. On the live show, Litia said she wouldn’t want to be part of a love story where her fiancé was so torn.

“I think the only reaction I have is that we are two different individuals and we have to go through this process very uniquely and very true to who we are,” Juliana replied when asked about the comments. “And I wish her well.”

While some social media users were curious how Juliana felt about Litia’s remarks, others harped on a comment Grant made while trying to make his decision about how Litia “knows what she wants” but Juliana is “fun.” He denied that the sentiment had anything to do with how serious he is about Juliana.

“I’m very serious. But everybody is different in a relationship,” he said. “Some people are more serious and they don’t like to go out. Some people like to have fun. I think that in a relationship, you can be serious and have the best of both worlds — that’s what I meant. Our relationship is a friendship. It’s fun in the fact that we can let loose and be ourselves.”

The Bachelor is officially back, and it’s Grant Ellis’ turn to hand out the roses — and break down the biggest premiere moments with Us Weekly. Juliana added that she would describe their connection as “easygoing.”

“Just because I said that doesn’t mean that I’m not serious. I’ve got tattoos, I like to have fun, but I take love very seriously,” Grant continued. “I poured my heart out there and that showed, and if people can’t see that, then they’re never gonna see it.”

Do You Think Grant Should Have Told Litia He Loves Her on The Bachelor?

So when did Grant actually make his choice between Juliana and Litia? We may never know — but he told Us that meeting his future in-laws played a major role.

“When you’re the Bachelor or the Bachelorette and you’re on a public platform, you’re trying to set an example, you have so many factors that come into play. I knew what my heart wanted, but I also was in a situation where there was somebody else there and I had a relationship,” he explained. “I started to develop that distance a little bit after hometowns and put together, whose family I would fit with more, the environment that I wanted, the vibe that I wanted and the relationship that I wanted. And then from there, it’s just working up the courage and strength to have to make a decision after you’ve built such a strong relationship with somebody and then you have to let ’em down.”
