Big Brother's Kate Lawler thinks she'd be 'cancelled' if she starred on show now
Radio presenter Kate Lawler has opened up on Celebrity Big Brother returning to ITV next month and how she's relieved she was on the show before the age of social media

Radio sensation Kate Lawler has let slip that she's glad she experienced Big Brother before the dawn of social media. Chatting exclusively with OK!, she admitted that today's ruthless cancel culture might have been too much to handle if she were on the show now. The 44-year-old TV icon secured her place in history as the first female winner of the third series of Big Brother back in 2002. Famed for her playful personality and memorable moments with fellow cast members like Alison Hammond, Kate went on to become a familiar face on our screens and on the radio, presenting for stations like Virgin Radio and Capital.
With Celebrity Big Brother returning for a new series on ITV next month, Kate looks back on how times have shifted. "I could not be happier that I did that show before social media," she admits, "I think I would have been cancelled!".

She reminisces: "When I was in my twenties I partied hard. But then, in my thirties, I became a dog parent. I started to settle down and do more wholesome things at the weekend." Yet, it's clear that Kate treasures her time in the Big Brother spotlight, saying: "I'm so pleased I did it when I did."
Kate Lawler may have transitioned from the whirlwind of reality TV to a more settled life, but she remains candid with her followers on social media. She's open about the challenges she's faced, including her struggle with postnatal depression and the realities of motherhood. Kate gets real about her experiences: "When I first had Noa, I felt like nobody was really being honest on social media about how the first year of parenting is," she explained. "How it's possible that you can love your child with every fibre of your being, but also find it really mundane and hard. It's life-changing."
Now, Kate is settled down with husband Martin Bojtos and daughter NoaKate also revealed how parenthood put her relationship to the test, admitting: "I feel like nobody talks about how tough [becoming parents] is on your relationship... If it wasn't for our therapist, Diana, I don't know where we'd be."
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Celebrity Big Brother on ITV this April, with AJ Odudu and Will Best once again on presenting duties. The lineup is still being kept top secret, but rumour has it we might see celebs like Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd, Strictly's Giovanni Pernice, Love Island starsChris Hughes and Tommy Fury, and Rebekah Vardy entering the house.
