Comic Relief fans turn over as viewers say same thing about presenter line-up
BBC Comic Relief returned to our screens on Friday night, with eight presenters taking to the stage to front the annual fundraiser - but some fans were divided.

This year’s Comic Relief kicked off with a bang as the nationwide charity celebrated 40 years of comedy and entertainment with a jam-packed evening of live TV. The Friday night spectacular (March 21) featured highlights from the likes of Strictly Come Dancing, Gladiators and Beyond Paradise.
The fabulous BBC special was showcased by presenters Alison Hammond, Davina McCall, Alesha Dixon, Rylan Clark, AJ Odudu, Joel Dommett, Jonathan Ross, and Tom Alen. The 2025 hosting team took charge of the four-hour special brimming with comedy gold and glitzy performances. But despite the stellar lineup, viewers rapidly flocked to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their discontent at the plethora of presenters orchestrating the evening.
One user asked: “Does Comic Relief really need 8 presenters? #ComicRelief” as another agreed: “#ComicRelief So switched on, Joel Dommett, Jonathan Ross, AJ Odud, Davina McCall, Alison Hammond, Rylan Clark, seriously is there no other presenters and can Davina say one bloody sentence without shouting, sorry switched off.”
A third echoed: “I turned off shortly after turning on. All of those presenters, there’s way too many. And all screeching like banshees too. Nothing funny on it whatsoever. #ComicRelief.” A fourth quipped: "Nice of them to celebrate 40 years of #ComicRelief by booking 40 presenters!"
"Why does Comic Relief need 8 presenters? I get it if it goes on for hours but it is only on until 10pm, we don't need 8 presenters. I think they should only have 4 presenters, 2 for the first half and 2 for the second half. 8 is far too many presenters #ComicRelief."
However, other complained that the enormous hosting cast replaced the comedians on the show. One user pointed out: "#ComicRelief needs actual comics on there, not 'comedic' presenters. It gets worse every year" as another echoed: "More presenters than laughts #ComicRelief."
