Comic Relief star Gethin Jones breaks silence after after 'serious' on-air fall

Gethin Jones has shared an emotional update following his impressive Comic Relief challenge. The Morning Live presenter, alongside co-host Helen Skelton, participated in the Wheely Big Challenge to raise funds for Red Nose Day.
The duo completed a skate-a-thon to generate money for crucial projects addressing poverty, injustice, conflict, and climate change both in the UK and globally. They were supported by celebrities including Claudia Winkleman, Janette Manrara, Kevin Clifton, Sir Chris Hoy and Rick Astley.
Today, they finished the challenge, raising an impressive £890,745 for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. Gethin has since updated his Instagram followers after completing the challenge.

He said: "Just woken up after a few hours sleep. I'm so confused. Did not know why I had this top on, or where I was! It will take a little while to process the last 24hours.
"I'm BLOWN away by your generosity. I'm emotional about how much this will help people who have nowhere to turn. I think there's a few minutes left to donate. I think the details are still in the bio. I've not long got my phone back, the ML social team have been busy on here."
Many praised Gethin in the comments after he completed the challenge. Dr Punam Krishan said: "You both smashed it, so proud of you and Helen xxx."
Gorka Marquez praised the effort with a comment saying, "You both did so amazing." While Dan Walker chimed in with: "Well played sir." Comedian Joel Dommett also showed his support, adding: "Smashed it buddy! Xxxx." (sic)

He reflected on the experience: "It's been another ridiculous, brutal, exhausting, exhilarating, emotional experience and I think when people watch where the money goes to, it really hits people hard, and I'll never underestimate or not appreciate the fact that times are hard but people still donated."
Emphasising the impact of the funds raised, he said: "To raise that money is fantastic and it's such a privilege to do it on behalf of Comic Relief and hopefully we can change lives and maybe even save lives."

But so overwhelmed from people joining in. Times are tough for people, so any donation is so overwhelming and we are very grateful."
Red Nose Day, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, continues its tradition of fundraising to combat poverty and provide vital services like food, healthcare, and shelter in the UK and across the globe, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The star-studded live event at Media City in Salford will feature hosts Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Alison Hammond. The Comic Relief broadcast kicks off at 7pm on Friday, March 21.
