Daredevil: Born Again Episode 5 may have just set up a new Avengers team
Daredevil: Born Again Episode 5 features an appearance from Ms Marvel’s dad Yusuf Khan – and he may have just set up a new Avengers team.
Ms Marvel may not appear in Daredevil: Born Again – but her father shows up in Episode 5, and he drops a big tease for what may be coming.
Up until the Daredevil revival, its characters showed up in other MCU movies & TV shows. For example, Charlie Cox first reprised his role as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home (and was met with cheers in cinemas around the world), before turning in scene-stealing appearances in She-Hulk and Echo.
Vincent D’Onofrio made his long-awaited return as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Hawkeye, as the head honcho behind the Tracksuit Mafia, before delivering some TV-MA goodness in Echo.
Now, Daredevil: Born Again is returning the favor. More specifically, Episode 5 features an appearance from Ms. Marvel – albeit it isn’t Kamala Khan herself, it’s her father.
Yusuf Khan gave a big Ms Marvel tease in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 5Disney+
In Daredevil: Born Again, it’s revealed that Yusuf Khan works as a deputy bank manager in New York. Matt talks to him about getting a loan for the firm – and they briefly discuss his daughter Kamala, aka Ms Marvel.
“My daughter is in California visiting some friends, La La Land as they say,” he says.
So, where is she? Here’s the thing: Born Again mostly takes place in 2026 (Fisk was elected as mayor at the turn of the year), but Kamala’s last appearance was in The Marvels, and within the chronology of the MCU, that was summer 2025.
At the end of the movie, Kamala met Kate Bishop, presumably to recruit her into the Young Avengers. However, that doesn’t explain why she’d be in California.

Could this be a tease for Champions, a rumored MCU series following Ms Marvel, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Riri Williams aka Ironheart, and Billy Maximoff from Agatha All Along?
Iman Vellani definitely wants it to happen, earlier telling ScreenRant about her affection for the Champions comics. “I think they’ve left so many of the younger character stories open-ended, and to see fans start shipping people together, it would be something like, I want to see Kamala interact with America,” she said.
“I want to see Kamala interact with Patriot, I don’t know. Just all these random people. And so yeah, I think there’s so many different avenues you could take with this.”
Daredevil: Born Again may have teased the West Coast AvengersMarvel
The fact Yusuf said “California” also suggests it could be a tease for the West Coast Avengers, a team originally founded by Hawkeye in the Marvel comics.
Think about it: the MCU is crying out for another superhero team to help defend the US (and the world) from any dangerous threats. Who knows if we’ll ever see the Eternals again, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are lightyears away.
It’s the right time for the formation of a new team… especially with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon.
Plus, the West Coast Avengers could bring back other characters – like Moon Knight, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and US Agent after his appearance in Thunderbolts – and follow Wonder Man, a new TV show premiering in December 2025.
