Jessica Simpson Felt "Suffocated" in Her Marriage to Eric Johnson
According to 'People,' Jessica Simpson felt suffocated in her marriage to Erin Johnson due to ongoing issues in their marriage.
After 10 years of marriage, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are going their separate ways. Simpson confirmed the news to People earlier this week, and now it seems the couple had been experiencing "issues" in their marriage for quite some time, which ultimately led to their split.
"Their marital issues have felt suffocating for a while,"Â an insider told People. "She needs to move on for her own well-being."

Another source told Page Six, that there were "trust issues" between the two that "drove a wedge between them.â
The couple had been living "separately" for a while, with Simpson even listing their Hollywood Hills home for sale prior to their breakup announcement, per E!. An insider added that currently, their focus is "100 percent" on their three kids, daughters Maxwell Drew and Birdie Mae and son Ace Knut.
"They have already figured out a new schedule for the kids," a different source told People. "The kids will always come first. They are co-parenting. She's grateful for her kids."

In her initial statement to People, Simpson revealed that the couple had been living separately. "Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," she told the publication earlier this week. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."Â

According to People, Simpson is putting her energy into her return to music and is feeling "excited about her new album," her first in 15 years. Page Six adds that the breakup has only fueled her desire to make music. âJessica has been working on new music for a while, but with everything going on now, she feels itâs the perfect time to go full force with it,â the insider said. âSheâs always journaling, and a few entries have evolved into songs about heartbreak and resilience. Itâs been a very creative, albeit heartbreaking, time for her.â
