UPDATE 2/25/07, 05:35 a.m. ET: King Charles III and Queen Camillaâs state visit to the Holy See and the Republic of Italy has been confirmed by Buckingham Palace. In a press release issued to Us Weekly, the palace said the couple will visit Rome and Ravenna and added that they plan to visit Pope Francis in celebration of the 2025 Jubilee Year. Further details and dates will be confirmed closer to the time.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will spend their upcoming 20th wedding anniversary in Italy.
The Sun reported on Monday, February 3, that Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, will take their first state visit of the year to Rome. The excursion is reportedly scheduled for April 9 â the same day they tied the knot two decades ago. According to the outlet, the trip to the Eternal City will include a series of engagements and a potential audience with Pope Francis at Vatican City.
In addition to their royal obligations, the couple are expected to also have some personal time to celebrate their relationship milestone. Charles is also expected to continue his ongoing cancer treatments. (The king was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024.)
Full details of the trip have yet to be announced.

King Charles III offered a brief health update during his return to public duties after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Charles and Camillaâs upcoming trip comes four months after the pair traveled to Australia and Samoa in October 2024. Despite being medically cleared to travel overseas while undergoing cancer treatment, Charles ultimately had to postpone the New Zealand leg of the trip due to doctorâs orders.
âIâm extremely sorry I canât come to New Zealand in late October because of doctorâs orders,â he said while meeting the New Zealand Black Ferns rugby team in England in September 2024. âI hope thereâll be another excuse [to come] before [itâs] not too long.â

While abroad, Charlesâ itinerary included limited engagements that were mindful to his health. Upon his and Camillaâs return to the U.K., Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch will continue to go on regular trips out of the country amid his ongoing cancer battle.

The spokesperson shared that Charles âgenuinely lovedâ going on tour with Camilla to Australia and Samoa, as the journey lifted âhis spirits [and] his moodâ and aided âhis recovery.â Despite âthe demandsâ of the tour, the spokesperson said it was âthe perfect tonicâ for Charles.

As the year came to an end, Charles reflected on his health struggles during his Christmas Day speech.
âFrom a personal point of view, I offer special, heartfelt thanks to the selfless doctors and nurses who, this year, have supported me and other members of my family through the uncertainties and anxieties of illness, and have helped provide the strength, care and comfort we have needed,â he said in December 2024. âI am deeply grateful, too, to all those who have offered us their own kind words of sympathy and encouragement.â
