Man United have a big Garnacho problem Amorim must fix before it is too late
Manchester United news as Alejandro Garnacho's offensive struggles continue to hold Ruben Amorim's side back this season
Manchester United are struggling to do the basics at the moment and one player who is seriously struggling to make an impact is Alejandro Garnacho.
The winger is widely regarded as one of United's best talents at the age of 20. After joining the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid, he has risen through the youth teams and is now a regular in the first-team.
Garnacho has played 124 games for the club, scoring 23 and assisting another 15. Despite being one of the most exciting youngsters in world football, United were close to cashing-in on him in the January transfer window.
Napoli and Chelsea are understood to both hold an interest in the Argentina international with the former seeing a bid rejected. Any potential sale would class as pure profit on the books due to him coming through the academy, but a potential exit mid-season was slammed by fans.
Despite many believing he would be worth over £100million, it was claimed Napoli were more adamant at paying closer to £60m. If he continues his upwards trajectory, a sale surely surpasses the £100m mark.
Garnacho stayed at Old Trafford and with Marcus Rashford departing, eyes are on the winger to drag Ruben Amorim's men up the Premier League table and to Europa League success. However, he’s currently suffering with a record no player of his quality will be happy to have their name under and it's beginning to be a problem for United.
The first 10 games of 2025 has seen Garnacho manage just two goal contributions. He created Bruno Fernandes' goal at Arsenal in the FA Cup in January before assisting Kobbie Mainoo's strike at FCSB in the Europa League.
He hasn't scored since the 3-0 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League at the end of November - 20 games ago. Since then, he has recorded 34 shots, including Sunday's huge opportunity to level against Tottenham.

A well-worked move from United resulted in Garnacho having time and room to pick his spot with Guglielmo Vicario rushing out to him. He panicked and ballooned the ball well over to squander the chance.
The statistics are worrying and it's something Amorim and United must fix. On his day, Garnacho is unstoppable and not many defenders can stop him. Only two weeks ago did he come off the bench and torment Leicester City like he was playing cage football.
Rasmus Hojlund's poor form and Joshua Zirkzee's inconsistency in his first season means the Red Devils are relying on others to provide the quality in the final third. If Garnacho is to follow in the footsteps of his hero Cristiano Ronaldo, the time is now to step up and produce.
