Meghan Markle has shared a touching video on her Instagram profile about the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

The Duchess of Sussex made her return to social media yesterday evening for the first time in a couple of weeks and appeared visibly emotional as she talked about how she has helped a young girl that was impacted by the fires.

She begins by addressing the camera: "I was just told that something arrived that I had been waiting for."

Meghan explains that she and Prince Harry met with a mother and her teen daughter whose home was destroyed by the catastrophic fires in Altadena, California, the Mirror reports.

Reflecting on this meeting, the duchess shared a moment from their conversation: "Her mum shared something with me and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is as we were meeting them, that all that she'd been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to that she left in the washing machine or the dryer."

Tragically, the family's home, along with the appliances, were reduced to rubble as Meghan described her proactive efforts to support the family, her sense of thankfulness evident in the heartfelt clip.

She explained: "I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note and I was like please can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish."

Meghan revealed a collection of signed memorabilia and a lunch box from Billie Eilish, expressing her bewilderment as she admitted: "You guys, I don't even know what all this stuff means, but it's signed for her."

In a heartwarming conclusion to the video, Meghan extended gratitude to everyone involved, particularly praising Billie Eilish with the words: "Huge thank you, Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line to everyone who's showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what's happened in California."

She wrapped up with a sincere show of appreciation: "Just thank you so much. I'm going to go and email her mum now. Just wanted to share that with you guys."

Prince Harry and Meghan have been actively supporting communities in Southern California affected by catastrophic wildfires. Through their Archewell Foundation, they've contributed donations, clothes, children's articles and various essentials.

Addressing their following, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an earnest plea on their website, stating: "In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighbourhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life."

After stepping back from the Royal Family in 2020, the couple settled in the plush Montecito area within California.

Harry and Meghan recently shared a collection of links on their Sussex.com website, directing visitors to numerous charities where they can provide support, and encouraged individuals to "open their homes" to those who have been evacuated.

Her video comes after the duchess made the difficult decision to postpone her Netflix show with Love, Meghan last month due to the fires, which is now set to premiere on the streaming platform on March 4.

It comes after Meghan and Harry were brutally branded 'disaster tourists' last month after helping out at a food distribution centre for victims of the fires. Days later, the couple also had to contend with a damning article in Vanity Fair, which made claims about what it is like to work for the couple and featured complaints from their neighbours in Montecito.
